Gators offer DE Andrew Williams

Class of 2014 McDonough (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing defensive end Andrew Williams was one of the top linemen on either side of the ball at Friday Night Lights.

During the event, Florida football coaches told the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Williams that a scholarship offer could come soon for him.

Gators coaches lived up to their word as Williams was extended a scholarship to Florida on Tuesday evening.

“I talked to Coach (Derek) Lewis and told me I had an offer from Florida,” Williams said. “He was just complimenting me on my work and he said he would love to see me at Florida often this fall.”

Even though the coaches told Williams he could be offered, actually hearing the news still caught him off guard.

“I was really surprised when he told me I had an offer,” Williams said. “It’s a great offer and I’m grateful for the offer. This a big offer for me and my family.”

Williams isn’t ready to narrow down his list, but he knows Florida will be one of his top schools when that time comes.

“I’m still developing relationships with the coaches at Florida,” Williams said. “And once that happens, Florida will be one of my top schools.”

The Eagle’s Landing standout plans to visit Florida again this fall for a game or two.
