Gators land running back commit

After visiting Florida on Saturday afternoon, Stone Mountain Stephenson (Ga.) running back Mike Davis (5-11/185) decided to verbally committed to the University of Florida.

Davis becomes the second running back this week to choose the Gators. Earlier in the week Matt Jones (6-3/215, Seffner/ Armwood) surprisingly committed to the Gators after he had long had the Georgia Bulldogs as his leader.

“I just loved the visit, I felt at home and this is where I want to be,” said Davis

He continued, “I told coach Muschamp and he was real happy, he told me Florida got a lot better today.”

Davis visited Florida with his three teammates Raphael Kirby, LB, (6-1/212), Jafar Mann, DT, (6-4/274), and Jarontay Jones, DE, (6-3/235).

Davis, who’s older brother James was a standout running back at Clemson and now plays in the NFL, had scholarship offers from Auburn, Clemson, FSU, Maryland, and Lousiville.

Davis becomes the fourth commitment in the 2012 class joining Dante Phillips, DT, (6-6/275, Venice/ Venice), Latroy Pittman, WR, (6-1/190, Citra/ North Marion), and running back Matt Jones.
