Garrett and Muschamp speak

The Gators are looking to add three linebackers in the Class of 2014 and on Monday Will Muschamp spoke to one of the top targets.

Joliet (Ill.) Plainfield South linebacker Clifton Garrett has long been one of Florida’ top targets at linebacker and Muschamp is trying to get him on campus for a visit.

“I called coach (Will) Muschamp tonight (Monday),” Garrett said. “I was just checking in with him and we were also trying to plan a time for me to get down there to visit. I’m going to hopefully visit this summer. I have a 7 on 7 tournament down there this summer so I’m going to try and visit when I come down there for that.”

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Garrett says despite him not visiting Florida yet the relationship between the two parties is good.

“I talk to Florida pretty often,” Garrett said. “We are building a good relationship and they keep telling me how bad they want me to be a Gator. They tell me that they want me to be that guy lining up beside Antonio (Morrison) at linebacker for their defense. It’s honor to hear them say that to me because Antonio is a good player.”

Garrett had previously said that LSU was his leader but he says that has changed and he now has a top 5 list.

“Right now I have a top 5 list of schools standing out,” Garrett said. “Florida, Tennessee, USC, LSU and Ole Miss all stand out to me in no order.”

Garrett says that he is trying to also plan his official visits and he may take his to Florida for the Tennessee game in September but right now nothing is final.
