Gaddy’s have a decision to make: Florida Gators recruiting

The Florida Gators recruiting class currently has one defensive tackle in it but the coaching staff is hoping to add more before signing day on Wednesday.

This weekend the Gators coaching staff hosted Maryland defensive tackle commits Breyon (6-5, 335, Virginia Beach, VA. Bishop Sullivan Catholic) and Brandon Gaddy (6-5, 289) on an official visit that they called a good one.

“I liked meeting the players and seeing how they reacted to new people coming in,” Breyon Gaddy said. “Just being part of their family was special.”

Twin brother Brandon Gaddy had the same feelings about the visit.

“I liked the relationship with players have with the coaching staff,” Gaddy said. “I really liked Coach Mac. He’s pretty intense but he’s also real cool.”

When the Gaddy twins were asked what the highlight of the trip was, they both had the same answer.

“Coach Mac’s house,” Brandon Gaddy said. “Everything about it was great, it’s huge. The food was fantastic.”

Defensive line coach Chris Rumph made sure to explain to Breyon Gaddy that the Gators need them.

“He said they need defensive linemen really bad,” Breyon said. “I think we can help out a lot because they don’t have that many players at our position so we can add depth.”

Heading into this weekend the buzz was that the Florida Gators had a great shot at flipping the Gaddy’s but that didn’t happen but the twins say they have some talking to do with family back home.

“We just have to talk to our parents and Coach Scott,” Breyon Gaddy said.

Brandon Gaddy added “We’ll make a final decision together on signing day. We’re doing a ceremony. Florida or Maryland, it comes down to signing day.”

Brandon Gaddy says that the coaches didn’t push for a decision and they know what they have to do once they get home.

“They told us to go back home and talk with everybody, then let them know,” Gaddy said. “”We’ll add up the pros and cons from Maryland and Florida. Then we’ll see who’s better.”

Both Gaddy brothers added that they’re both qualified and have been given the green light to commit to the Gators.

INSIDERS TAKE: Florida did a really good job this weekend and McElwain did a great job during his in-home visit of ensuring mom that her boys would be taken care of at Florida. The reason mom didn’t visit Maryland or Florida is that she doesn’t like to travel and she just had a medical procedure done.
