Friday Night Frenzy recap week 5: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits games.

High School Recap

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Daquon Green: Green had six catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

2017 commits

 

Quarterback Jake Allen (6-3, 200, Fort Lauderdale, FL. St. Thomas Aquinas)

Result: St. Thomas Aquinas had a bye week this week.

Game Stats: Allen has four touchdown passes on the year.

Notes: St. Thomas returns to the field next Friday night.

Defensive back Elijah Blades (6-2, 170, Pasadena, CA. John Muir)

Result: Muri lost to La Salle on Friday night by a score of 44-6.

Game Stats: Blades caught a 51-yard touchdown pass late in the game.

Notes: Blades’ team was over matched from the start.

 

Tight end Zech Byrd (6-6, 236, Millbrook, AL. Stanhope Elmore)

Result: Stanhope Elmore defeated Northview 44-42 on Friday night.

Game Stats: N/A

Notes: Stanhope Elmore is now 1-3 on the year.

 

Defensive end Zach Carter (6-4, 250, Tampa, FL. Hillsborough)

Result: Hillsborough defeated King 39-0 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Carter had six tackles, 1 sack, two tackles for a loss and a safety in the win.

Notes: Hillsborough moves to 3-0 on the year.

 

Defensive back Shawn Davis (5-11, 190, Miami, FL. Southridge)

Result: Southridge lost to Booker T. Washington 20-6 on Friday.

Game Stats: Davis had an interception in the loss.

Notes: Southridge lost for the first time this year.

 

Defensive tackle Javier Edwards (6-3, 350, Brenham, TX. Blinn College

Result: Blinn lost to Trinity Valley Community College 36-28 on Saturday.

Game Stats: Edwards had five tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Notes: Blinn is 2-2 on the year now.

Result: Southridge lost to Booker T. Washington 20-6 on Friday.

Game Stats: Gamble had to leave the game due to cramping.

Result: American Heritage defeated Coconut Creek 48-6 on Friday.

Notes: Houston is out for the year with a torn ACl.

Result: Clearwater defeated Boca Ciega 51-35 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Lemons had 113 yards rushing and a touchdown in the win.

Notes: Clearwater is 2-0 on the year.

 

Linebacker Ventrell Miller (6-0, 227, Lakeland, FL. Kathleen)

Result: Kathleen lost to Viera 13-7 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Miller and the Kathleen held tough against Viera but not enough offense for them.

Note: Kathleen is now 2-2 on the year.

 

Defensive tackle Jordon Scott (6-1 345, Largo, FL. Pinellas Park)

Result: Pinellas Park defeated Tarpon Springs 25-13 on Friday night.

Offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort (6-7, 300, Miami, FL. Booker T.)

Result: Booker T defeated Southridge 20-6 on Friday night.

Notes: Telfort and Booker T. rebounded from its first loss of the year.

 

Athlete Kadarius Toney (6-0, 177, Eight Mile, AL. Blount)

Result: Blount defeated B.C. Rain 38-0 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Toney passed 149 yards for two touchdowns and rushed for 58 yards and another touchdown.

Notes: Blount is 5-0 on the year.

 

Defensive back Marco Wilson (6-0, 180, Fort Lauderdale, FL. American Heritage)

Result: American Heritage defeated Coconut Creek 48-6 on Friday.

Game Stats: Wilson had two tackles in the win.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.   1. Andrew, like what we are seeing from our offensive guys, especially Daquan Green. I think he might be one of the biggest sleepers in the country. However I have one question, is St. Thomas Aquinas a run heavy team? I would think that with all that talent at receiver Allen would put up video game stats. I still think Allen is going to be a good QB down the road just curious about the high school production while playing on a team with receiver talent 99% of high school QB’s would sell their soul for. Thanks!

    • Allen most of the time is out of the game by the time they reach halftime because his team is winning big. St. Thomas is a run heavy team though.
