Florida Gators visit lives up to Callaway’s expectations

The Florida Gators are trying to improve on the offensive side of the ball by adding playmakers and on Saturday the Gators had the chance to impress 2016 receiver Marquez Callaway (6-2, 170, Warner Robins, GA High) who was on unofficial visit to Florida.

Callaway had the chance to see his Florida game on Saturday and the visit lived up to his expectations.

“It was great game and it was nice and a great experience for my first ever night game,” Callaway said. “The atmosphere and the facilities at Florida were great. They showed me that it could be home if I went there.”

The 2016 receiver was also able to hang out with his good friend and Florida commit Brandon Sandifer on Saturday in Gainesville.

“I know if I went to Florida Brandon would be there too,” Callaway said. “I’m pretty good friends with him and I know that if he can call it home that I need to look more into Florida and give them a chance.”

During the game Callaway paid close attention to the Florida Gators’ offense and how they played against the LSU Tigers defense.

“The offense didn’t play that bad, really,” Callaway said. “LSU played a lot of man coverage so that is lot of 1-on-1 matchups, so that means the receivers can go deep. I liked that about the offense and Demarcus Robinson is someone I know and he was talking about how he was making plays.”

Just last week Callaway finally picked up his Florida offer so it was his first chance to see the school that had just offered him.

“They had been talking about it since last spring so it’s nice to get it finally,” Callaway said. “I like Florida a lot and now that Brandon [Sandifer] is going there I know I would have someone there with me.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Callaway is a top prospect in the state of Georgia for next year and having Sandifer committed will only help with him. Callaway is a bigger target that Florida needs in the offense as they are recruiting a lot of smaller guys in the Class of 2015.
