Florida Gators recruiting official visitors list for January 27th

This is the last weekend for official visits for the Florida Gators recruiting class of 2017 so it’s a big weekend for the coaching staff.

The Gators head into this weekend with just 14 commits for the class but with a lot of visitors coming on campus this weekend the hope is to finish out strong.

Florida will have just one commitment on campus this weekend but will have several key targets that they’re in good shape with.

Here’s a look at the Florida Gators recruiting visitors list for this weekend.

Defensive tackles visiting

There’s no question that the biggest need heading into this weekend is defensive tackles and the Gators will host three big targets on officials. Leading that group is Maryland defensive tackle commits Breyon and Brandon Gaddy who have been talking up Florida a lot in past weeks. The Gators are in a prime spot with these guys as long as they have a good visit and Florida feels comfortable with their academic standing.

Georgia defensive tackle commit Devonte Wyatt is the other defensive tackle visiting Florida this weekend. Right now South Carolina and Georgia are the two teams with the most momentum.

DBU trying to reload

Florida has two really good defensive backs committed already and they’re looking to add to that this weekend. Leading the group is defensive back Brad Stewart who is very close with running backs coach Tim Skipper. Arkansas, Arizona State and TCU are the main contenders for Stewart heading into the visit.

Defensive back Brian Edwards decomitted from Miami earlier this year after picking up a Florida offer. Right now it appears Miami has the edge for Edwards but the defensive back is really close with defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.

Joining those guys will be Houston safety commit Donovan Stiner who just picked up an offer on Thursday. Stiner is someone that Florida has been recruiting quietly for some time now and they’re going for the flip this weekend.

Pass rushers visiting

Florida will not only play host to the big boys up in the middle on the defensive line but they will host three pass rushers this weekend.

Defensive end Labryan Ray has visited Florida three times already and this one looks to be a Florida/Alabama battle. The Gators sent head coach Jim McElwain in-home on Thursday night prior to the visit.

Defensive end Abule Abadi just picked up an offer this week but the long and rangy defensive end is someone that Alabama and Florida State have been looking at this fall.

Defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson looks to be a LSU/Texas battle heading into this weekend but the Chaisson family has a connection to receivers coach Kerry Dixon. The Gators are hoping that is enough to get Florida at least in contention.

Offensive prospects visiting

This weekend is loaded with defensive prospects but the Gators will also host three offensive prospects this weekend.

Running back Adarius Lemons has had a shaky recruitment that has been derailed by some academic concerns. Those concerns are still out there but the Gators want to at least bring him for a visit this weekend.

Miami offensive line commit Zalontae Hillery has been on the Gator radar since this summer when he visited multiple times. Hillery is someone that the Gators wanted to see how he did his senior year and they were sold enough to get him to visit this weekend.

Oklahoma receiver commit Charleston Rambo is visiting Florida for the first time this weekend. The thought is that Rambo is just taking the visit to have fun but the Gators went in-home with him this week in hopes of flipping the receiver.
