Florida Gators offer Treon Harris’ friend

September first was a big day for juniors in high school as it was the first day they could receive messages and mail from college coaches and the Florida Gators have taken full advantage of this.

Just days after September first 2016 Miami receiver commit Dredrick Snelson (5-11, 194, Plantation, FL American Heritage) received good news from one of the Florida Gators assistant coaches.

“Coach [Chris] Leak offered me a scholarship to Florida about a week ago,” Snelson said. “He basically said that he wanted me really bad and that he can’t wait to get me up there for a visit. He was telling me a bunch of stuff about the Florida program.”

One of the things that Leak was telling Snelson was that if he chooses Florida he can reconnect with one of his good friends on the football team.

“Coach Leak was saying that they already have my freshman quarterback Treon Harris there so I should join him,” Snelson said. “He was saying that we are already have chemistry together and that I know how Treon plays so that I would love it in Gainesville.”

Playing with Harris is something that Snelson thought was in the past but the opportunity to play with him again is something that has him excited.

“It would be great to play with Treon again because he’s an excellent quarterback,” Snelson said. “We are still friends so it would be nice to play with him again. It would be a nice feeling.”

Not only does Florida have the connection of Harris playing in its favor but Snelson also grew up pulling for the team in Orange and Blue.

“I know that Florida is an excellent program because I liked them a lot when I was younger,” Snelson said. “I’m glad to get the offer and I’m interested in Florida and I like them.”

Despite growing up a fan of the Florida Gators Snelson committed to a rival of Florida’s, but things aren’t done yet according to him.

“I’m committed to Miami but I’m keeping my options open,” Snelson said. “I’m committed but I’m going to visit Florida for a game this fall.”

INSIDER TAKE: Florida needs to get Snelson on campus this fall and I believe if they do then things could work in Florida’s favor quickly. The positive influence Treon Harris has over guys in South Florida is great and that will help Florida here.
