Florida Gators: Martez Ivey signee profile

Martez Ivey

School: Apopka
Hometown: Apopka, Florida
Height: 6-5
Weight: 271
Position: Offensive Tackle
Rivals Ranking: 5 star
Recruited by: Mike Summers / Kirk Callahan / Jim McElwain
Notable: Ivey grew up a Gators fan and decided to pull the trigger and make his childhood team his college team.

Ivey is the most athletic offensive lineman in the entire 2015 recruiting class and is a huge get for the Gators at a position where they needed to get more talented and deeper. Ivey fills both of those needs.

Ivey is the kind of player that can come in from day one and make an impact. He has played tackle all throughout high school and, while the Gators have two young and talented tackles in Rod Johnson and David Sharpe, Ivey will be given an opportunity to earn a starting position as a freshman.

Quotable: “Florida, that’s my dream school. Growing up in Florida, I’ve just been a Florida fan. The atmosphere and that feeling I get from being in Gainesville is great.”

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
