Frenzy Recap Week 9

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

 

High School Recap

 

Linebacker Jerome Baker (6-1, 206, Cleveland, OH Benedictine)

Result: Benedictine defeated Lake Catholic 29-15 on Saturday night.

Stats: Baker ran for a touchdown, threw for a two-point conversion and also scored a fumble recovery from 14-yards out.

Notes: Baker has 49 carries for 457 yards and six touchdowns this year.

 

Offensive Lineman George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods)

Result: Winton Woods lost to Elder 28-21 on Friday night.

Stats: N/A

Notes: George Brown will be visited by offensive line coach Mike Summers on Friday.

 

Receiver Derrick Dillon (5-11, 175, Franklinton, LA Pine)

Result: Pine had a bye week this week.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Dillon has 18 touchdowns and over 700 yards rushing this year.

 

Offensive lineman Michael Horton 6-4, 320, Atlanta, GA Lakeside)

Result: Lakeside had a bye week this week.

Defensive end Andrew Ivie (6-3, 285, Dade City, FL Pasco)

Result: Pasco defeated Hernando 24-2 on Friday night.

Stats: Ivie had three tackles in the win.

Notes: Ivie has 30 tackles, 4 sacks and one caused fumble this year. Ivie also has a safety this year.

 

Tight end Kalif Jackson (6-4, 202, Neptune Beach, FL Fletcher)

Result: Fletcher lost to Fleming Island 27-13

Stats: Jackson had two catches for 35 yards in the loss.

Notes: Jackson now has 17 catches for 325 yards.

  

Quarterback Sheriron Jones (6-2, 189, Moreno Valley, CA Rancho Verde)

Result: Rancho Verde defeated Canyon Springs 60-10

Stats: N/A

Notes: Jones is now 76-114 for 1,454 yards and 15 touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Jones also has two interceptions on the year.

 

Offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny)

Result: Bishop Kenny defeated Stanton 39-0

Notes: Jordan visited Florida on Saturday.

Tight End Camrin Knight (6-4, 220, Tallahassee, FL Lincoln)

Result: Lincoln defeated Leon 49-14.

Stats: Knight had just one catch in the win.

Notes: Knight has 7 catches for 86 yards this year.

 

Offensive Lineman Brandon Sandifer (6-3, 332, Warner Robins, GA Northside)

Result: Northside defeated Warner Robins 24-21.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Sandifer and Northside defeated its rival on Friday.

 

Linebacker Adonis Thomas (6-3, 219, Lawrenceville, GA Central Gwinnett)

Result: Central Gwinnett lost to Grayson 28-0 on Friday.

Notes: Thomas has 64 tackles, 4 sacks and a fumble recovery on the year.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
