Florida Gators: Friday Night Frenzy Recap Week 4

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

 

High School Recap 

Linebacker Jerome Baker (6-1, 206, Cleveland, OH Benedictine)

Result: Benedictine lost to Bedford 27-12 for its first loss of the season.

Stats: Baker had 11 carries for 27 yards in the loss and had 8 tackles.

Notes: Baker had to play a lot of quarterback in the game and he had a 66 yard touchdown called back.

  

Offensive Lineman George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods)

Result: Winton Woods lost to Mason 22-0 for its first loss of the season.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Brown and his team were shut out for the first time all season.

 

Receiver Derrick Dillon (5-11, 175, Franklinton, LA Pine)

Result: Pine defeated Varnado 44-20 in week two of action.

Stats: Dillon had two touchdown passes and a touchdown run.

Notes:  Last week Dillon had 201 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns, while throwing for 150 yards on 10-of-18, and three scores.

 

Offensive lineman Michael Horton 6-4, 320, Atlanta, GA Lakeside)

Result: Lakeside defeated Campbell 42-38 on Friday night

Stats: N/A

Notes: Friday’s win snapped a two game losing streak.

 

Defensive end Andrew Ivie (6-3, 285, Dade City, FL Pasco)

Result: Pasco defeated Wesley Chapel 37-13 on Friday night.

Stats: Ivey had three sacks, one safety and recovered a fumble to set up a touchdown.

Notes: Ivey visited Florida on Saturday to watch the Gators big win.

 

Tight end Kalif Jackson (6-4, 202, Neptune Beach, FL Fletcher)

Result: Fletcher defeated Sandalwood 45-14

Stats: Jackson had a 18 yard touchdown catch.

Notes: Jackson was still slowed by a knee injury.

 

Quarterback Sheriron Jones (6-2, 189, Moreno Valley, CA Rancho Verde)

Result: Rancho Verde defeated Great Oak 69-21

Stats: Jones went 12-14 for 267 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Notes: Jones is now 43-63 for 832 yards and 10 touchdowns this year.

 

Offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny)

Result: Bishop Kenny’s had a bye this week.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Jordan once again visited Florida on Saturday for the Gators big win.

 

Tight End Camrin Knight (6-4, 220, Tallahassee, FL Lincoln)

Result: Lincoln defeated Sarasota 38-0 on Friday night.

Stats: Knight didn’t have a catch

Notes: On the year Knight has 16 catches.

  

Offensive Lineman Brandon Sandifer (6-3, 332, Warner Robins, GA Northside)

Result: Northside defeated Lakeside 38-7

Stats: N/A

Notes: Sanidfer and the offense continues to put up big numbers as they are undefeated on the year.

  

Linebacker Adonis Thomas (6-3, 219, Lawrenceville, GA Central Gwinnett)

Result: Central Gwinnett defeated South Gwinnett 30-25.

Stats: Thomas had two sacks and seven tackles in the win

Notes: Thomas sacked South Gwinnett to seal the victory for his team.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
