Florida Gators: Friday Night Frenzy Recap Week 3

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like in past years, Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

 

High School Recap

 

Linebacker Jerome Baker (6-1, 206, Cleveland, OH Benedictine)

Result: Benedictine defeated Ursuline 27-6 to go 2-0 on the year.

Stats: Baker had 20 carries for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Baker also had a touchdown catch.

Notes: Baker continues to lead his team in yards and on Saturday he also played quarterback to go with his usual linebacker spot on defense.

 

Offensive Lineman George Brown (6-6, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods)

Result: Winton Woods defeated Hamilton 17-10 to move to 2-0 on the season.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Brown and the Winton Woods offense racked up 606 yards of offense on Friday.

 

 

Receiver Derrick Dillon (5-11, 175, Franklinton, LA Pine)

Result: Pine defeated Pearl River 42-7 to open the season.

Stats: N/A

Notes:

  

Offensive lineman Michael Horton 6-4, 320, Atlanta, GA Lakeside)

Result: Lakeside suffered a defeat to Duluth by a score of 41-20.

Stats: N/A

Notes: With the loss Lakeside is now 1-2 on the season and have lost back-to-back games now.

 

 Defensive end Andrew Ivie (6-3, 285, Dade City, FL Pasco)

Result: Pasco defeated Fivay 28-27 on Friday night.

Stats: Ivey had three tackles in the win over Fivay

Notes: Ivey visited Florida on Saturday to watch the Gators big win.

 

Tight end Kalif Jackson (6-4, 202, Neptune Beach, FL Fletcher)

Result: First Coast defeated Fletcher 18-6 in a big game on Friday.

Stats: Jackson had two catches for 29 yards in the loss.

Notes: Jackson left the game with a knee injury that could sideline him for a few weeks.

 

Quarterback Sheriron Jones (6-2, 189, Moreno Valley, CA Rancho Verde)

Result: Rancho Verde defeated Murrieta Mesa 59-16 on Friday night.

Stats: Jones went 16 for 22 for 319 yards and three touchdown passes.

Notes: Jones and Rancho Verde are now 2-0 on the season.

 

Offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny)

Result: Bishop Kenny’s game was cancelled on Friday night due to bad weather.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Jordan once again visited Florida on Saturday for the Gators’ big win.

  

Tight End Camrin Knight (6-4, 220, Tallahassee, FL Lincoln)

Result: Lincoln defeated Columbia 10-7 on Friday night.

Stats: Knight had one catch and one tackle on defense.

Notes: Lincoln is now 2-1 on the year and is on a two game winning streak.

  

Offensive Lineman Brandon Sandifer (6-3, 332, Warner Robins, GA Northside)

Result: Northside defeated Evans 38-6 on Friday.

Stats: N/A

Notes: Northside is now 2-0 on the year.

 

 

Linebacker Adonis Thomas (6-3, 219, Lawrenceville, GA Central Gwinnett)

Result: Central Gwinnett defeated Mundy’s Mill 21-8.

Stats: Thomas had 8 tackles and 3 quarterback hurries in the win.

Notes: Central Gwinnett is now 1-1 on the year after the win on Friday.
