Florida Gators: Friday Night Frenzy Recap Week 2

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects all across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits games.

High School Recap

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WR Josh Hammond. Hammond  had three touchdown catches in the win over Cedar Grove. Hammond also had another 65-yard touchdown called back due to a false start.

2016 commits

 

Offensive lineman Branton Autry (6-4, 320, Coffeyville, KS JUCO)

Result: Coffeyville defeated Iowa Western 48-42 in overtime to upset Iowa Western.

Game Stats: N/A

Notes: Coffeyville trailed 35-14 in the third quarter before scoring 21 unanswered points.

 

Defensive end JaQuan Bailey (6-3, 235, Jacksonville, FL Raines)

Result: Raines defeated Lee 39-0 to open the season on Saturday night.

Game Stats: Bailey had two sacks in the game.

Offensive lineman Stone Forsythe (6-7, 331, Winter Garden, FL West Orange)

Result: West Orange defeated Foundation Academy 45-0.

Notes: WR Eddie McDoom had a big night by scoring a touchdown and catching six passes for 137 yards.

 

 

Cornerback Chauncey Gardner (5-11, 190, Cocoa, FL High)

Result: Cocoa defeated Palm Bay 24-7 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Gardner had nine tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the win.

Notes: 2017 Ohio State Buckeyes commit Bruce Judson had three touchdowns and  149 yards rushing.

Result: Hallandale defeated Cedar Grove 34-26 on Saturday afternoon.

Result:  Dwyer defeated Boynton Beach 48-6 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Johnson had nine yard touchdown catch in the game.

Notes: Dwyer QB Todd Centeio had four touchdown passes in the game.

 

 

Linebacker Vosean Joseph (6-2, 210, Miami, FL Norland)

Results: Norland defeated Ribault 23-12 on Saturday.

Defensive back Quincy Lenton (6-0, 195, Meridian, MS High)

Result: Meridian was defeated by South Panola 21-14 on Friday night.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
