Does Freddie Swain have interest in Florida Gators or not?

Over the last few days and continuing through the next few weeks, the Florida Gators will be hosting football camps for prospects to attend, but the Gators will also host several prospects on unofficial visits that will not participate in the camp.

One of the talented prospects that was on campus on Saturday was receiver Freddie Swain (6-1, 174, Citra, FL North Marion), who was observing the camp with some family members.

“I was just out there chilling, wasting some time,” Swain of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I’m just out here watching practice and chilling with everyone.

Head coach Jim McElwain and tight ends coach Greg Nord greeted Swain with a big hug on Saturday and McElwain slipped in a little message to him in the Swamp.

“Coach McElwain was happy to see me up here again,” Swain said. “He was telling me that Florida was the best fit for me and that he really wants me.”

Despite the message from the Gators, and Florida being close to home, the receiver doesn’t have Florida in his top seven currently.

“I made a top seven and Florida wasn’t in there,” Swain said. “I’m alright with Florida and I haven’t really knocked them out or anything like that. The energy at Florida is just great. I mean its Florida.”

Swain has been to Florida over a dozen times in the past two years but  he says he needs to see more things from Florida if the Gators want to land him.

“I mean I just have to feel at home here,” Swain said. “The season means a lot to me about Florida honestly.”

One thing that Florida has going for them is that Swain is getting close to receivers coach Kerry Dixon.

“Coach Dixon is a cool dude,” Swain said. “He says that I can be great here and that he would like to have me.”

Florida will have at least one more opportunity to get things straightened out with Swain this summer before a decision comes this fall.

“I’m thinking about doing it when we play Hoover on ESPN this season,” Swain said. “I’m going to take some visits this summer on our bus tour and then see what happens. I’ll be back at Florida on Tuesday.”

INSIDERS TAKE: While talking to Swain I really got the feeling that he just didn’t have much interest in Florida, but the receiver continues to visit Gainesville so there must be some interest.
