Demetris Robertson Beginning to See Gator Possibilities

The program and Florida Head Coach Jim McElwain have their options open with Demetris Robertson (6’0”, 180 lbs., Savannah Christian)

The recruit out of Savannah, Georgia is being shopped as an athlete to schools and the Gators would like to tap into his defensive prowess to use him as a cornerback.

With guys like Vernon Hargreaves III currently building a strong legacy of cornerbacks in the Swamp, Robertson says he would love to step into a ready made program.

Since he lives within driving distance, Robertson is unsure as to whether or not he will use an official visit to Ben-Hill Griffin Stadium, but he will be by regardless.

Scheduling conflicts caused him to reschedule a visit during the middle of June.

However, past visits left an impression and Robertson says he’s become very comfortable with players currently on the Gators football team. While he’s still getting to know the coaches, he has been able to get a sense of what kind of future he could have in Gainesville.

And for Robertson, a future in Gainesville is steeped in history.

With over 100 years of football history to call on, Robertson says a huge draw to Florida is the long-standing traditions that have helped build the program into such a national powerhouse.

With months of recruitment still ahead, Demetris Robertson is going to take his time, fully explore his possible future with the Florida Gators, and perhaps begin to make his own place in Gator history.

Note: We wanted to provide the video interview for those who enjoy getting to know the recruits on a personal level. We should warn you though, there was an ambulance circling during the time this interview was filmed so you may notice a siren in the background.
