Davis looking for a Florida offer

Friday Night Lights is a huge event for rising seniors but more importantly, for the underclassmen who are hoping to impress the coaches.

One of those prospects was 2015 St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood athlete Ryan Davis who was in Gainesville hoping to earn an offer on Friday.

“I think I just need to show the coaches my explosion and how great of an athlete I am,” Davis said. “Because I’m a shorter guy I want to show them how I’m better than the taller guys.”

The 5-foot-10, 157-pound Davis plays quarterback in high school but he worked out at receiver during FNL.

“It’s not a disadvantage to me because I multi-task in high school practice,” Davis said. “I train at every position that I could potentially play in college. So I don’t want to settle at quarterback or receiver, I want to play everything.”

So far Arizona, Kentucky and Vanderbilt have offered Davis but he says several other schools are recruiting him hard.

“Ohio State, Florida State, Arizona, and USF. My coach has been talking to coach (D.J.) Durkin about me a lot,” Davis said.

Davis says that he will be back up to Florida this fall for several games to watch his good friend Dante Fowler play.

UPDATE: Davis didn’t earn a Florida offer, but he is on the Gator radar following a good performance on Friday.
