2017 linebacker likes the Florida Gators atmosphere

The Florida Gators football staff is doing a good job of getting prospects on campus this year and that was evident during the Tennessee Volunteers and Ole Miss Rebels games last month.

One prospect that visited for the Tennessee game was 2017 linebacker Justin Foster (6-3, 225, Shelby, NC Crest), who likes the Florida Gators defense and he had the chance to talk to a Gators coach during the trip.

“It was a great visit,” Foster said of his visit to Florida for the Tennessee game. “I got to meet the coaches finally and they were pretty cool. I talked to the linebackers coach [Randy Shannon] for a little bit during the visit and everything went really well.”

When Foster was talking to Shannon the Gators linebacker coach was telling Foster how he would fit into the Florida Gators defense.

“Coach Shannon was just saying that he was glad that I was able to get down there for the game,” he said of Shannon’s message to him. “He was talking about how I can play linebacker really well and that they need linebackers really bad down there at Florida. He said that he thinks I can play multiple positions at the linebacker spot as well.”

The Florida Gators also have a helping hand on the team as Foster is very good friends with a current defensive end who’s also from Crest High School as well.

“I talked to Jonathan Bullard a good bit because he’s from the same area and I’m friends with his brother,” Foster said. “We were talking about the win and just how my visit was going down there.”

Not only was talking to Bullard big for Foster, but the Florida Gators atmosphere was something else that stood out to the 2017 linebacker.

“The atmosphere was great and loud in the Swamp,” he said. “It was one of the best games that I’ve been to and it was a great to see live in person. It was a great atmosphere to be apart of. It was what I imagined it would be like.”

There have been reports that Foster has a leader, or co-leaders, but the linebacker said that isn’t the case.

“I wouldn’t say anybody is leading right now, I’m open to all schools,” Foster said. “This visit definitely helped Florida out a lot and I plan to return for another visit to see them play.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Foster is very close with Jonathan Bullard, but right now I would say that the Clemson Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers are the two teams to beat in his recruitment.
