The 2017 class was represented very well on the Florida Gators recruiting visitor’s list last Saturday when the Gators took on Tennessee.
One of the 2017 prospects in attendance was safety Cyrus Fagan (6-2, 170, Daytona Beach, FL Mainland) who enjoyed the atmosphere in the Swamp and called it a loud game.
“It was a great game and Florida pulled it out,” Fagan said. “It was a very exciting game and it was an intense environment in there. My ears were ringing in there with the crowd being so loud. It was very loud.”
Receivers coach Kerry Dixon was at Mainland’s game on Friday night to watch Fagan and his teammates and Dixon shared a message with Fagan on Saturday.
“They came to my game on Friday night and then on Saturday they told me they need me here,” he said of Kerry Dixon’s message to him. “I talk to Coach Dixon the most because he’s our recruiting coach so he’s the one that I talk to about recruiting right now.”
Florida has been telling Fagan how much of a need he is at Florida because the defensive back’s depth is getting slim.
“They tell me when my graduation class comes to Florida they will need me on the field,” Fagan said. “They said that I would be able to step right in and play for them because they lose a lot of guys in the secondary. They said this is DBU and that I can play for them here.”
Fagan who plays all around on the defensive side of the ball says that he’s under where the Florida Gators recruiting board has him but that he hopes to find out soon.
“Coach Dixon said that of course I will have to work hard and compete but that the best player plays on Saturday’s,” he said. “They haven’t really talked to me about corner or safety they just say that they need me here. I plan to talk to them more about that though.”
The Florida State Seminoles were a school thought to be in the lead for Fagan but he admitted that the Gators were a school on his mind a lot.
“I have a lot of interest in Florida and this visit helped them out,” Fagan said. “I don’t really have anymore visits planned at this time but I will definitely be back up here to Florida for another game soon.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Fagan is a big time playmaker that likes Florida and Florida State a lot early on. Miami is also in the mix here but Florida will try to get him on campus a lot this fall and spring.”
