2015 defensive lineman picks up a Florida offer

Florida has been out evaluating and handing out offers to prospects in every class, including the Class of 2015.

Last week, the Gators handed out an offer to 2015 Albany (Ga.) Westover School defensive tackle Trenton Thompson.

“Coach Brad Lawing from Florida offered me last Friday,” Thompson said. “He said I know you got offers from other schools but I want you to know that you have an offer from Florida. He really wanted me to come down there for a visit soon.”

For the 6-foot-3, 283-pound Thompson, he plans to do exactly what Lawing asked and will visit sometime soon he says.

“Oh definitely, I’m going to visit them,” Thompson said. “They are going to send me some mail with dates for visits and camps and I’m going to pick one of those dates. I really like Florida and I’m excited about visiting them. They are close to home for me and they have a good math and science program there, I like that.”

Thompson says the one thing about Florida’s defense that sticks out to him is that the base their defense around pass rushing and getting to the quarterback.

Florida isn’t the only school to stop by to see the 2015 prospect, as dozens of other college coaches have all come through Westover High School.

“I can’t even remember all of the schools that I have come by,” Thompson said. “Florida, Georgia, Western Kentucky, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn and North Carolina are the ones I remember. Georgia offered me a scholarship this spring too.”
