Williams Jr picks up an offer from the Florida Gators

2018 guard Greg Williams Jr has had a solid spring with his Houston Hoops team. He has scored at a consistent rate by shooting 60% from the field. His consistent play has helped Houston Hoops get to a 5-3 record through 2 EYBL sessions. Williams Jr recently caught up with GatorCountry.com to talk about his Florida offer and the EYBL.

Williams Jr doesn’t consider himself a one dimensional player. He can play in an up tempo offense as well as system that prefers to operate in the half-court set.

“One of my strengths is being able to play up tempo and also play in a half-court set,” Williams said. I think that I’m a versatile guard. “One thing I know I have to work on is being more aggressive on offense.”

Williams Jr loves the EYBL circuit because the competition pushes him to new levels in his game.

“The first sessions have been great,” he said. “Playing against great competition every game tests your skill and IQ every time you step on the court. It has been great for my game.”
Florida has been watching the talented guard from Lafayette Christian Academy during the live period and offered him on Thursday.

“It’s great to receive and offer from Florida,” Williams said. “They’ve had major success and getting an offer from there is a great opportunity. They have a great program. They get far every year and always are competing.”

A program that has a great environment and atmosphere is a big factor for Williams Jr. The goal for him is to make it to the NBA so he wants a coaching staff who has been succuesfull in preparing players to become pro.

“When choosing a school, I’ll focus on what school can enhance my game and help me to get to the next level,” he said. “Also just a family environment that will build relationships beyond basketball.”

Williams Jr looks to lead his Houston Hoops team to more wins this weekend in Atlanta.
