The 2013 Gator basketball recruiting class featured two of the most sought after basketball prospects in the country for 2013. Summer B is typically the term when freshmen show up in Gainesville although, one of Florida’s two signees will be absent for the time being.
As most fans already know, the Gators will be missing a piece of their talented freshmen duo when it comes time to enroll tomorrow, forward Chris Walker
“Chris is still working towards some different things academically,” Florida assistant Matt McCall said. “I think the biggest thing; everything has to go through the NCAA Clearinghouse. We should have some more information later on in the summer, but right now he’s continuing to work.”
While Matt McCall says that Walker won’t be in Gainesville tomorrow for orientation, he says that Walker is working hard back home in Bonifay, Florida.
“The one thing I will say about Chris is he’s committed to the process and he has really done an unbelievable job,” McCall said. “He’s continuing to work hard, and we should know something more later on this summer.”
With Walker’s status up in the air for the upcoming year, the Florida Gators will get good news tomorrow when the other piece of Florida’s class enrolls.
“Kasey Hill will be enrolled in classes,” McCall said. “He has orientation starting tomorrow.”
One thing that stuck out during the SEC teleconference on Monday was the talk that the SEC will now review all non-conference schedules.
Assistant coach Matt McCall said while he doesn’t get involved much in the scheduling, he doesn’t think Florida has to worry about anything.
“I don’t really get involved in scheduling that much, but obviously we played a very strong non-conference schedule last year,” McCall said. “The same is going to be said for this year coming up.”
