Stone commits to the Florida Gators

Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators basketball team received good news on the recruiting circuit on Monday night when Deerfield Beach forward Keith Stone (6-8, 230 Deerfield Beach, FL Zion Lutheran High) committed to Florida following his official visit to Gainesville this weekend.

“Thank you to all the coaches that have recruited me but I will be attending the University of Florida. #Gator Nation,” Stone said via Twitter on Monday night.”

Stone is the fourth player to commit to Florida for the Class of 2015 joining guard KeVaughn Allen, forward Noah Dickerson and forward Kevarrius Hayes as members of the class.

Stone has long been a Florida Gators lean but many didn’t know if the Gators would have a spot for him but that was a key to this past weekend’s official visit as Stone will now likely be the final commitment for the Class of 2015.

During Stone’s junior season he led Zion Lutheran to the regional quarterfinals by having great scoring season as he averaged 28 points per game.

Stone choose Florida over offers from South Carolina, VCU and Alabama among others.

Early signing period is in November but it’s unclear if Stone will sign then or if he will sign in the spring.
