SEC Basketball Media Day: Georgia

Georgia coach Mark Fox believes the Bulldogs have the opportunity to make it back to the NCAA Tournament with a strong non-conference schedule highlighted by an early test by Indiana.

Georgia coach Mark Fox

On the upcoming season:

“I like my team.  They have done a nice job of working hard.  This is the first time we have returned many players. We have experienced players that the newcomers can learn from. We have depth.  This roster is more physical than last year.”

On Missouri and Texas A&M coming to the conference:

“This is going to be a conference year with many battles. Growing up in Kansas, I have watched Missouri basketball. Missouri has a great tradition. These programs only make the SEC stronger.  We have a league that is competitive and strong as anybody. Missouri will have terrific home court advantage. It is a great atmosphere. It is disappointing not going to Kentucky this season but we pick up two great games.”

On foreign trip:

“There was change immediately, practice has been more efficient. The rule change has had advantage to spend more time in the summer.  Practice does not have to be as long because we got so much done this summer.”

Marcus Thornton:

“Marcus Thornton looks as good as he did when he stepped on campus. Last year with two knee surgeries, I have so much respect for him for playing through the pain and working hard to return. He looks good. I am cautious with him to be precautious on his health.”
