Lomax eyeing a Florida Gators basketball official visit soon

The class of 2018 has many great floor generals and Alex Lomax(6’0 185lb East Memphis HS) is among the best. Lomax is a pure point guard and provides consistency and leadership for his team.

Lomax and his Team Penny squad competed in the EYBL Peach Jam, but the results didn’t go as planned. However, this past weekend Team Penny won the Hardwood Classic in Kansas.

“Peach Jam was a cool experience,” Lomax said. “We didn’t do too well and didn’t make it out of pool play. I feel I did good but could’ve done way better. Hardwood classic was great. We got some revenge on some good teams and I feel I did great. It felt great to win with the team.”

Lomax has informed GatorCountry.com that he intends to take an official visit to the Florida Gators basketball staff soon and potentially wants to take the visit before school starts back. Florida is a program that has made a big impression on him throughout the recruiting process.

“I love Florida they are a great program and are one big family,” he said. “Coach White and coach [Jordan] Mincy are my main recruiters. They mainly keep telling me that I’m a great kid and that I would be a great fit to the Florida program. Florida and I are very close. We communicate everyday with either Coach [Jordan] Mincy or Coach [Mike] White. I think I would fit great with Florida. They play my type of style. I pride myself on defense and so does Florida. Florida is just a great program and has a great atmosphere.”

Schools such as Memphis, Florida, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Wichita State have been a constant presence at Lomax’s games this spring and fall. Whoever lands this talented guard will get a tough minded leader who can get it done on both ends of the floor.

INSIDERS TAKE: Wichita State, Ole Miss, and Missouri could also potentially get an official visit from Lomax. The local Memphis Tigers still sit in great position for him as Lomax has made several trips to check out the nearby school.
