Jitoboh gets an offer from the Florida Gators

The class of 2019 looks to be loaded with many talented big men and Jason Jitoboh is a name to keep an eye on. The 6’10 big man from Hamilton Heights Christian(Chattanooga) is a guy who has tremendous upside and will be a key asset to whatever team lands him in the 2019 recruiting class. Jitoboh recently spoke with GatorCountry.com about his game and recruiting process

Jitoboh is more of a traditional back to the basket offensive player. He also loves playing defense and impacting the game on the defensive end.

“I would say I am a traditional center,” Jitoboh said. “I play back to the basket and I can hit the midrange jump shot. My strength right now is my post moves and have a great touch and feel for the game. I also protect the basket and love playing defense. I feel that I need to work on my conditioning.”

The players in the NBA that Jitoboh can see some of his game in are Al Jefferson and Zach Randolph. Jitoboh is trying to model his game to resemble a former SEC star.

“I would compare my game to a Al Jefferson or Zach Randolph right now,” he said. “I’m working hard to try to get myself to the level of my favorite center Demarcus Cousins.”

The talented big man received his first official offer Wednesday from the Florida Gators. The Gators have been showing interest in Jitoboh since his freshman year.

“The Florida offer is really great,” Jitoboh said. “It’s actually my first official offer. It’s very special to me and it’s definitely going to be at the top of my list. I have always liked Florida basketball. I think they are well coached and it’s one of my favorite college teams. The Florida coaching staff has been looking at me since last year when Kentucky commit Shai Alexander was committed there. They came to one of our practices and were interested in me. They have been in touch with my Coach ever since.”

Many other programs are keeping an eye on Jitoboh. Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Tennessee state, and Clemson are among a list of programs that are interested in Jitoboh. Florida is his only official offer at the moment but I expect his recruitment to heat up very soon.

Jitoboh plays AAU ball for Team NLP who are coming off of a solid first weekend at the Phenom Challenge. The team went 2-2 and Jitoboh showed many coaches what he is capable of.

“My first week of AAU was good,” he said. “I played solid and a lot of college coaches approached me and were showing interest. I had a lot of blocks and rebounds and did my thing on the offensive end. My team went 2 – 2 and we lost to very talented teams, which I think we will be playing them both next tournament. Hopefully, we can bounce back and get the win against them.”
