2018 big man Colin Castleton from Father Lopez Catholic in Daytona Beach has made a name for himself this travel ball season and is seeing it pay off on the recruiting front. Offers have been coming in throughout the spring and summer due to his consistent production.
Castleton has cut his list to eight schools that consist of Florida, Illinois, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Baylor and Notre Dame. The talented 6’10 big man is now busy setting up official visits to take the next step in his recruitment. Visits to Illinois(Sept.1-3) and Purdue(Sept. 29-1) have been planned and now Castleton has planned an official to Florida on October 14th.
Florida has yet to offer Castleton, but the Gators have been recruiting him and had him on campus in June for an unofficial visit. The staff has made a big impression on the Father Lopez center.
The coaching staff is a big thing that sticks out to me,” Castleton told GatorCountry.com. “The relationship I’ve built with them is great and I’m continuing to build it. Also their strength and conditioning coach is one of a kind and that means a lot to me. Plus they’re a winning program so that is a plus for sure. I like Coach White because he’s a young coach and the programs only way is up from here.”
Castleton got a glimpse of what Gainesville has to offer while on his unofficial back in June. Now he is looking forward to getting a second look at the campus and seeing things he wasn’t able to fit in his last visit.
I’m looking forward to seeing everything the school has to offer all around,” he said. “On my unofficial I got to see a glimpse of it and I am excited to see what else they have at the University.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Illinois and Purdue have been very consistent in the recruitment of Castleton. Resulting in both schools getting him in campus for officials. Castleton has been very open about his admiration for the Florida program and an offer from the Gators would make them a serious contender for landing him.
