2019 target showing his worth during Adidas Gauntlet

Guard Josh Nickelberry is going to be one of the top prizes in the 2019 class. The sharpshooting guard will be attending Oak Hill Academy after a successful sophomore season at Trinity Christian Academy. When it comes to AAU ball, Nickelberry is having a huge spring for Game Elite 2019 in the Adidas Gauntlet. GatorCountry.com spoke with Nickelberry about his spring and a look at his recruiting process.

Nickelberry is an aggressive guard who can shoot the ball at a high level. He already has a reputation of being one of the top shooters in his class.

“I’m just an aggressive guard that can score at all three levels,” Nickleberry said. “I can put it on the floor and make plays for my teammates and I can create my own shot. My strengths are my natural ability to score, scoring from all three levels, and athleticism.”

The Adidas Guantlet has been a great platform for Nickelberry to showcase his talent. His performance has been impressive as he is top five in scoring.

“First two sessions were great,” he said in reference to the Adidas Gauntlet. “I’m top 5 in scoring on the circuit so I think I’ve been playing great. I’ve been scoring the ball well. Each game I look to play for my team and play hard on defense. I’m looking to focus on winning games and getting better on my all-around game”

One of his many offers is from the Florida Gators. Coach White and his staff offered Nickelberry back in February.

“Florida is a great offer to have,” Nickleberry said. “They have a great location, great staff and a great team. I think very highly of the staff and players, they are a very tough team to beat and they had a great tournament run.”

Nickelberry is getting recruited hard by all the teams that have offered, but there are four ACC teams that are after him the hardest at the moment.

“I have offers from schools like: UNC, Florida State, UConn, Nebraska , Baylor, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, Clemson, NC State, Providence and many more,” he said. “24 offers in all. All schools have been showing high interest. UNC, Florida State, Wake Forest, and NC State have been showing a lot of love lately.”

A solid relationship with the head coach will be pivotal in his college decision along with a staff that has proven to develop players at a high level. Nickelberry and Game Elite will be looking to continue improving over the rest of the AAU season.
