Gainesville Super Regional: Dates, Times, TV information, how to watch online

For the third straight year the Florida Gators have advanced to the Super Regional stage of the NCAA Tournament and they will host Wake Forest in the Gainesville Super Regional.

How did each team get here?

Florida Gators (44-17)
The Gators won the SEC regular season title before falling short in the SEC Tournament. Florida earned a No. 3 National Seed and with it the opportunity to host both a Regional and Super Regional.

The Gators opened up the NCAA Tournament with a 10-6 win over Marist and then a 5-1, 12-inning nail-biting win over USF in the second game of the Regional. Bethune-Cookman staved off elimination by beating Florida 6-2 on Sunday but the Gators eventually moved on with a 6-1 win on Monday afternoon.

Wake Forest (42-18)
Wake Forest finished third in the ACC during the regular season (second in the Atlantic Division). The Demon Deacons beat Georgia Tech 5-4 to start the ACC Tournament before being eliminated by Miami 5-2.

Wake Forest hosted the Winston-Salem Regional last weekend with West Virginia, Maryland and UMBC coming into town. Wake Forest started the tournament with an 11-3 win over UMBC. Wake Forest then bounced West Virginia from the Tournament, beating the Mountaineers 4-3 and 12-8.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
