Will Muschamp has had good recruiting classes in the past and every one of them has had at least one or two prospects who have served as ring leaders of the class. This year, corner Quincy Wilson (6-2, 195, Fort Lauderdale, FL University School) is fast establishing himself as a ring leader. He talks to two of Florida’s key commits weekly.
“I think we are all sticking together as a core group of the class,” Wilson said. “I think everyone is realizing we can come in make an instant impact. Me, Dalvin(Cook) and Ermon (Lane) talk about that a lot we talk regularly. We are all solid to Florida.”
One of the main reasons those three guys are committed to Florida is because of the relationship they have with defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson.
“As long as T-Rob is there I think everything will be good,” Wilson said. “T-Rob says we need to stick together and come in and make an impact and get Florida back where they belong.”
Wilson doesn’t just talk to other Gators commits but he also is doing some recruiting of uncommitted prospects, hoping to convince them to join the Florida class.
“I’ve been recruiting Travis Rudolph and Adoree’ Jackson,” Wilson said. “I’m not sure if we have a chance with Rudolph or not because Florida State is moving up. I also talk to Jamal Adams some we talk about playing in the secondary together a lot.”
Although it hasn’t been the best of seasons for Florida, that isn’t a concern to Wilson because he sees the answer to the team’s problems.
“They are just having a down season; I’m not worried about it at all,” Wilson said. “They have absolutely no playmakers on offense and the lack of offense has affected the defense because they are working with a short field and are on the field way too long.”
Wilson plans to take his one and only official visit to Florida for the Florida State game at the end of November.
