Taylor likes the Florida Gators base defense

Linebacker Tyler Taylor (6-3, 220, Sugar Hill, GA Lanier) is the latest prospect to receive an offer from the Florida Gators for the class of 2017.

Taylor, who plays all four linebackers spots in high school, heard the news from his head coach a few days ago.

“Florida offered me on Sunday night, they told my head coach about it,” Taylor said. “I’ve been talking to Coach [Geoff] Collins before the offer though. We’ve been talking about Florida and small talk about the program.”

The linebacker hasn’t heard many details from Collins yet, but Taylor knows that the Gators will be up to see him soon.

“Coach Collins has been talking to me for a few months now,” he said. “We’ve just been having a little small talk here and there about the linebacker position and their needs. He said that he will definitely be down here during the spring to see me in person.”

Taylor has never visited Florida before but was very happy to hear the news of the offer and he knows a few things about the Gators.

“I’m really excited to have an offer from Florida,” Taylor said. “Florida is such a great school and I never thought I would have an opportunity to be able to play for school like Florida.”

The Georgia linebacker is a smart football player and he likes the Gators base defense and what the defense can do for his game.

“I really like Florida’s defense and its base defense is a 4-3 defense,” he said. “With me at the position I’m at, it allows me to move around on the field a lot and be able to cover a lot of ground. This shows of my ability a little more linebacker wise. I watched a couple games and Florida’s front 7 last year were mean and physical and I like that a lot.”

Taylor, who has high interest in Florida, says that he wants to get down to Gainesville sometime soon to check out campus.

“I definitely plan to visit Florida,” Taylor said. “I plan to visit sometime during the spring or beginning of the summer sometime. I just have to set my schedule for visits.”

Over the last few days Taylor has seen his recruitment blow up and he’s taking things slow with his recruitment right now.

“I don’t have any leaders right now,” he said. “Wake Forest, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma State are the schools that I have been talking with the most right now. A lot of schools are just starting to talk to me.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Taylor has had a few great days, receiving some big offers. Alabama, Michigan State, Tennessee and Georgia have all offered Taylor over the last few days.
