The Florida Gators recruiting class of 2018 picked up its third member of the class on Tuesday morning when it received a new commitment.
Safety C.J. Smith (6-2, 193, West Palm Beach, FL. Oxbridge Academy) gave the news that he was committing to Florida this morning.
“I want to announce that I’ll be spending the next four year at the University of Florida,” Smith said.
Smith visited the Gators two weekends ago and that was him and his family fell in love with Florida.
“This was my third time up here so I was letting my mom and granddad enjoy it,” he said. “They loved it, she loved mostly everything. The academic stuff mostly and they really liked Coach [Jim] McElwain.”
During his time on campus, defensive backs coach Corey Bell and running backs coach JaJuan Seider spoke to Smith about how he would used in Florida’s defense.
“They want me at free safety,” he said of what position Florida told him. “Coach Seider just says that he would love to see me on the defensive side of the ball for them.”
New Gators running backs coach JaJuan Seider who has been recruiting the safety since his time at West Virginia mainly recruited Smith.
Smith joins receiver Jalynn Williams and defensive back Divaad Wilson as members of the Class of 2018.
GatorCountry.com will have much more on Smith’s commitment to the Florida Gators this afternoon.
