Gator fans, it’s been 223 days since you’ve been able to get your Florida football fix. We know it’s hard to go months without watching your favorite players run out on to the field on Saturdays — we’re itching for some Gator football too!

Fret not: The wait is nearly over.

Next week is SEC Football Media Days in Birmingham, Alabama. That’s the shot across the bow of the college football world that yet another season of football madness is on its way in the best conference in the country.

Gator Country will be there in force. We’ll be covering the top stories, what players and coaches are saying, but we’ll also bring you “inside” via our daily blogs, videos, and photos from behind the scenes.

There’s a lot going on at this year’s SEC Media Days with plenty of intriguing storylines such as:

  1. Coaches on the hot seat this year (including Muschamp)
  2. The new playoff scheme and how it will impact the conference
  3. The latest rules on the field, such as targeting.
  4. The amount of unseasoned quarterbacks this year (only 6 are coming to media days)
  5. What about the new SEC TV Network? How will Tim Tebow fit in?
  6. Which players will draw the biggest crowds this year?

We’ll have all that and more. Specifically:

What to expect from Gator Country:

  • An account from former Gator Jon Halapio about what it’s like to attend SEC Media Days as a student-athlete.
  • A preview of what to expect from Will Muschamp Florida and the rest of the SEC coaches and players
  • Up to the minute news from Will Muschamp, Jeff Driskel, Vernon Hargreaves III and Dante Fowler Jr. as well as the other 13 SEC teams at SEC Media Days.
  • Filling out the preseason All-SEC ballot with Gator Country writers.
  • Video of interviews and events as well as video journals from Gator Country writers on our YouTube page.
  • We will provide pictures and shorter video on our Instagram page.
  • Wednesday night we will be at a SEC Network event to showcase some of the content the network will roll out. We’ll bring you behind those closed doors with all of the SEC Network personalities, including Tim Tebow.
  • …and much more.

Watch our hyperactive message boards as well, our staff will be shooting out tidbits, notes, and quotes as things unfold. Our coverage begins Sunday, so be sure to tune in and get the latest and greatest from GatorCountry.com.

I’ll tell you what to expect. Nothing. I have no idea why anyone would even go. Is anything going to be learned? There won’t be any “news” from anyone. They’ll guess who is going to be the best players and who is going to win the divisions. No one has any idea what they are talking about. As seen by last years predictions, they are rarely right. I guess it will be fun to hear Paul Finebaum once again declare that Alabama is the greatest team and the rest of the league should just give up. I’d like to meet the doctor that put his head back together after last year. Every coach and player is going to say the same thing, the only difference will be the face is changed. Wake me up when it’s over.
