Recruits react to loss as Muschamp and coaches hit the road

The Florida Gators had hoped to give recruits a good show in Tuscaloosa on Saturday as the Gators played their first road game but things didn’t go smoothly against the Tide.

However the good news for Florida is that Will Muschamp and his coaching staff will be able to use Monday and Friday of the bye week to head out and visit some of these recruits at their school for either a practice or for a game on Friday night.

While Florida will not be able to see every recruit these two days, they will be visiting a lot of in-state prospects as well as some of the out of state guys.

Before I get into some of the guys that Florida is expected to visit this week I want to give everyone some of the reactions from Florida Gators targets and commits.

I will say that the overwhelming feeling is that recruits aren’t nearly as worried as fans are and that’s a good thing for Florida. Honestly, they have the right approach because Will Muschamp has continued to keep those guys up to date on the program.

Recruits Reactions

Defensive end target Byron Cowart-“Great fight and a great game overall.”

Florida offensive line commit Tyler Jordan- “Even though we lost, it’s early in the season and we are going to work out the kinks. We will be all right and the East is still open season.”

Linebacker target Tevon Coney-“I think the defense played good but it look they got tired and gave up once the offense stopped scoring. Overall a good game and it doesn’t affect my interest in Florida.”

Florida tight end commit Kalif Jackson-“ It was a tough loss but I believe in the team and I know they’ll bounce back. My commitment is solid and I plan to attend the University of Florida for college.”

Texas A&M defensive tackle Daylon Mack-“The offense has to help the defense out more.”

Receiver target Ryan Davis-“They fought hard and competed and put up a fight against them. I know the coaches are going to get them right for the next game.”

Offensive line target Emmanuel McGirt-“They did better than what they are getting credit for. Alabama got them, but all in all Florida looked good.”

Mississippi State linebacker commit Darrien McNair-“The defense played great and competed and made turnovers and set up the team with great field position.”

Florida linebacker commit Jerome Baker-“Florida still have work to do and they just have to get better each week. I’m still solid to Florida.”

The week ahead

I expect most of the coaches to hit the road recruiting all day on Monday before returning to practice on Tuesday-Friday morning. Most of the coaches will again be out recruiting and watching games on Friday and possibly even Saturday.

While I don’t have a full list of prospects Florida will visit I have confirmed a few and I’ll continue to add to the list as Monday goes on.

Florida quarterback commit Sheriron Jones says that Florida is scheduled to visit him but he isn’t sure which day.

Texas A&M defensive tackle commit Daylon Mack says that defensive line coach Brad Lawing is visiting him on Friday.

Receiver Antonio Callaway, tight end Devonaire Clarington and cornerback DaVante Davis will have defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson at their game on Friday night for Booker T. Washington.

Defensive end Byron Cowart says that Florida will have coach by his school on Friday for his game. I think it will be Muschamp.

Receiver Ryan Davis says that Will Muschamp will be at his school on Monday.

Running back Ray-Ray McCloud will have Will Muschamp at his practice on Monday.
