Defensive end CeCe Jefferson (6-3, 260, Glen St Mary, FL Baker County) took in his first ever Florida basketball game last Saturday on a visit to the UF campus. An outstanding 2015 prospect, Jefferson came away from Florida’s 84-65 win over Kentucky highly impressed by both the basketball team and the time he got to spend with Florida football coach Will Muschamp, but don’t expect a commitment any time soon.
“It went great as usual,” Jefferson said. “Saturday was actually my first Gators’ basketball game that I’ve ever been to. Lucky me, I got to go to the last basketball game this season where they set a record by going 18-0 in the SEC. It was great man and it was just all around a great time.”
When Jefferson was asked about the crowd noise at the O’Dome on Saturday he had a simple answer.
“It was loud as crap in there,” Jefferson said. “It was pretty loud in there.”
Following the basketball game, Jefferson went across the street to the football complex for some one-on-one time with Muschamp.
“Everything is great between me and Coach Muschamp,” Jefferson said. “He said that they are still are going to come at me real hard and that I’m a top priority to them and that I’m one of the type of guys that can come in and help them turn the program around.”
Jefferson made news on Monday night when decided to wait until next February to make a decision.
“I’m going to wait until National Signing Day to make my decision,” Jefferson said. “I decided that because I want to wait and see all of the teams and give them all a chance to show me how they would use me and need me.”
Many people believe that Jefferson may be waiting till next February to make a decision so that he can see how the Gators do but he says that’s not the case.
“It really doesn’t play into that much,” Jefferson said. “I think Florida is going to have a good season this year and get things turned around.”
Jefferson wasn’t the only top defensive end on the UF campus Saturday, Jefferson was joined by defensive end Byron Cowart. Jefferson says the two have become good friends.
“Byron is like a brother to me it was good hanging out with him,” Jefferson said. “We are cool and good friends. I didn’t get a chance to catch up with Mekhi (Brown) but me and him are boys, too.”
Next up for Jefferson he believes will be a trip back to Gainesville to see a spring practice with his father.
“Oh yeah you know I’ll be up there for some spring practices,” Jefferson said. “I have to talk to my dad to see about what days and stuff like that.”
