Florida has picked up its eighth commitment on Thursday night as Tuscaloosa (Al.) Northridge tight end Cyontia Lewis has committed to the Florida Gators.
“Yes sir, I decided to commit tonight,” Lewis said. “I just felt like Florida was the best place for me and no other school could offer me the same that Florida could.”
When the 6-foot-5, 212-pound Lewis called Florida to tell Will Muschamp he wanted to commit, he had a happy coach on the phone.
“Coach (Will) Muschamp said he was real happy to have me commit,” Lewis said. “He told me that he’s so glad to have me in the program. He said that I’m the right person for Florida and that he needs me real bad.”
For Lewis, the pressure to stay in Tuscaloosa will be tough but Lewis says he had to make his own decision.
“I’m not worried about Alabama,” Lewis said. “I’m going to go where I want to go and I want to go to Florida.”
Lewis should also be able to help Florida with one of their running back targets as well because they are family members.
“Me and Bo Scarbrough are cousins,” Lewis said. “I’m going to recruit Bo to Florida. When I called to tell him I was committing he said he was happy for me and excited. He told me that Florida has a chance to get him too.”
Both Lewis and Scarbrough will visit Florida together this summer for Will Muschamp’s camp.
