Florida has already landed one prospect from the state of Alabama in Cyantai Lewis and now are trying to get another one.
McCalla (Al.) McAdory defensive end Cory Thomas was visited by Florida twice during the spring evaluation period and he released some big news on Wednesday.
“I’m going out of state to play college football,” Thomas said. “I want to make my own way and path and not go to an instate school. Right now my four are Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida and Miami with Florida State being my fifth school.”
The key draw to Florida for the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Thomas is Florida’s defensive line coach Brad Lawing.
“I really like coach (Brad) Lawing, I talk to him a lot,” Thomas said. “He tells me all that time that I need to get down there and see the place and see what he can teach me on the football field and how he can help me get better as a player. I plan to visit Florida sometime this summer but I’m not sure of the date.”
Even though Lawing and Thomas have only been talking for a few months now, Thomas has done his research on the defensive line coach.
“I know that coach Lawing has a ton of coaching experience,” Thomas said. “He has coached a lot of good defensive ends and has coached some future NFL players. He said that I can play all over the defensive line and that he can help me get into the league at either the 3 technique or at the defensive end position.”
