Defensive lineman Malik Langham (6-5, 269, Huntsville, AL. Lee) is one of the hottest prospects in the country after having a really good senior year and college coaches have taken notice.
On Monday, Florida Gators assistant coach Billy Gonzales paid a visit to see Langham to let him know that Florida is interested in him.
“Coach Gonzales came by to see me,” Langham said on which Florida coach visited him on Monday. “It went good, he was just talking about the school and how the changes are going.”
Gonzales made sure to let Langham know the past history of Florida when Dan Mullen and was in Gainesville.
“He said that Florida is a great place to be,” he said of Gonzales’s message. “He said that he was there earlier and they won a championship and they’re trying to build it up to win a championship now.”
While visiting with Langham, Gonzales also let the lineman know that the Gators are looking for help at his position this year.
“He was just telling me that they needs guy like me,” Langham said. “He said when I come down on my official visit that I can sit down and talk with the defensive coordinator and he would explain how I would fit in more.”
Langham picked up an offer from Florida under Jim McElwain and he has been interested in the Gators since then and now he plans to officially visit Florida and others next month.
“I’m interested in Florida, that’s why I want to take a visit and see what they have to offer,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I’m visiting in January. I’ll also visit Alabama, Vanderbilt and either Ole Miss or Tennessee in January.”
The Gators are the rest of the teams after Langham will have to wait awhile as the defensive line is in no rush to make a decision.
“Signing day,” Langham said on when he will make a final decision.
INSIDERS TAKE: Langham visited Notre Dame this past weekend but right now Alabama is the school that looks to be in the best shape for the defensive lineman.
