Jordan is becoming the leader of the class

On Saturday the Gators hosted the first of two huge Saturday football camps. This past week the Gators hosted offensive line commit Tyler Jordan (6-5, 270, Jacksonville, FL Bishop Kenny) on campus but he didn’t work out at the camp; Jordan was there to watch offensive line coach Mike Summers in action as well as do some recruiting of his own.

“It was good, I liked it and I got to hang out with Coach Summers at camp,” Jordan said. ‘I got to see how he interacted with the other players and coached the recruits during camp. It’s the same way he was in practice, he’s not a guy that yells but he’s someone that pulls you aside and says here’s how you can fix it and then he moves on.”

Summer’s calm approach has been something that every recruit has mentioned and according to Jordan it’s something that draws prospects to Florida.

“I think we as offensive linemen respond to that better than someone that yells,” Jordan said. “I think it helps out and it helps everyone stay calm and focused on the job instead of being upset. I think it’s something players are looking for.”

Even though Jordan didn’t camp on Saturday he stayed busy by recruiting all of the big time prospects that were on campus by telling them why he was a Gator commit.

“I was talking and recruiting anyone that I could out there,” Jordan said. “I was talking to Sheriron Jones, Jalen Merrick and Abdul Bello for the most part. I was just telling them that Florida is a great place to be and giving them examples of why I committed there and told them to watch Coach Summers and the coaches.”

Jordan committed to Florida as a center and with the Gators landing quarterback Sheriron Jones on Sunday the two players plan to start building a relationship together.

“Sheriron and I have messaged back forth on Facebook a lot before,” Jordan said. “I got the chance to talk to him for the first time this weekend but we definitely plan on building that center/quarterback relationship together. I like Sheriron a lot he’s a great kid and he’s down to earth. I may have to get some surfing lessons from him.”

One other prospect that Jordan has his mind set on recruiting is defensive tackle Kendrick Norton who lives in the same town as Jordan.

“I’m trying to get Kendrick Norton too because he’s from just down the road in Jacksonville at Trinity Christian,” Jordan said. “I’m trying to get him to Florida and show him why the Gators are a good fit for him.”

Jordan says that recruiting other players to Florida is something he takes to heart and something that he thinks will help Florida win games in the future.

“I think it’s big for me to be a lead recruiter in this class,” Jordan said. “You have to get to know your teammates on a personal level and develop a relationship with them in order to have a great team. I’m just trying to get a step ahead of college.”

INSIDER TAKE: I like that Tyler Jordan is already showing signs of being a leader because at the center position you must lead the offensive line. I think Florida has found in a gem in Jordan and his loyalty towards Florida is already paying off.

  1. Players usually don’t gravitate to a school because of an offensive lineman. They do when it comes to a skill player, like a quarterback. I am waiting for one of these guys from the state of Florida that are supposedly going to Florida to actually say so publicly. UF is up to 21st in one recruiting ranking with the addition of Jones, but needs to get a big fish from it’s own state to start flourishing. One guy predicted UF will get Jefferson, Cowart, and Ivey. I’m starting to wonder though. When Ivey’s teammate, Cox, committed to Auburn, it makes you wonder because he is one of those players that was also supposedly headed to Florida.
