Gregory likes the Florida Gators coaches and atmosphere

Saturday was a very busy for the Florida Gators coaching staff as they held a spring practice and a junior day.

One of the prospects on campus for that junior day was receiver Demarcus Gregory (6-3, 196, Duncan, SC. Byrnes) who enjoyed his time on campus.

“It went good, I loved the campus, it was really nice,” Gregory said of his Florida visit on Saturday. “I was able to talk to the coaches. I talked to Coach [Kerry] Dixon and Coach [Jim] McElwain one-on-one. We also toured the campus.”

Gregory got the chance to watch Florida practice and he was able to evaluate how Dixon coached his position in person.

“We watched them go through practice,” he said. “It went good, it was a very intense practice. I was watching the receivers and Coach Dixon most of the time. I liked how he coached them, he’s straight up with his players.”

While on the visit Gregory picked up an offer from Florida and he says that came from head coach Jim McElwain.

“Coach McElwain was the one who offered me,” Gregory said. “He said that I’m going to wear Orange and Blue and that he loves my film. He said that I’m a great fit for their offense and that I need to go ahead and join them.”

Before meeting with McElwain, Gregory got the chance to talk with Dixon about how the Gators could use him.

“Coach Dixon said he loves my size and that I fit the offense there,” he said on Dixon’s message. “He said that he plays seven receivers and that I could come in and play on the outside.”

The offer from Florida was a big one to the receiver who says that he has interest in the Gators.

“The offer means a lot to me, this is a great school,” Gregory said on what the offer means to him. “I love how the coaches are and the atmosphere is great.”

Despite several big offers, Gregory says that he doesn’t have a leader but he does know when he wants to make a decision.

“I’m open to everyone right now,” he said. “I’m definitely coming back for another visit soon. I want to decide this summer.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Gregory is a big receiver and McElwain is looking to add height at the position. Heading into the visit it looked like North Carolina and South Carolina were the favorites but Florida is squarely in the mix now.
