GC College Pick’em Week 4

The Florida Gators return to The Swamp this week to take on the Tennessee Volunteers as they kick off their SEC schedule. The Gator Country staff is here to give you some money making predictions on every weekly game across the Top 25 and SEC. The staff will also provide some insider takes on the toughest decisions to make each week.

Be sure to check Gator Country every Thursday this season to see who we like.

To make things interesting we will also keep a tally on which staff member corrects the most games correct each week. After week three Seth is leading the pack but don’t look now, Nick is closing on in.

Nick de la Torre

I went from last place to third place last week and now I’m gunning for Seth and first place. How are we going to do that? Picking more favorites, of course. It’s a pretty ugly slate of games this week so we’re going with mostly chalk again in week four.

David “PD” Parker

Clemson vs NCSU: Remember when this was an intriguing game? Clemson has really upped its game and NC State has sunk to the gutter. It required a field goal with 33 seconds left for the ‘Pack to avoid losing to Richmond in their last game two weeks ago. That’s FCS Richmond, who last week lost to Gardner-Webb 12-10.
Michigan State vs. Notre Dame: Probably one of the closest to call on the weekend.
Auburn vs. LSU: The Tigers may be on their way back, but not this year.
Troy vs. Mississippi State: With Bowling Green visiting Oct 12, this may be the next-to-last chance for Dan Mullen to notch a win this year. Well, I guess there’s always Kentucky…

Andrew Spivey

Last place just isn’t cutting it fellas so this week things will change. Spivey will be back in the mix, don’t worry Gator Country.

Daniel “DK” Thompson

Second to last place, eh? This week I am going undefeated – no doubt about it. I like chalk almost all of the way. I think that Indiana will “upset” Missouri by seven points. I think Rutgers takes Arkansas to the edge. Finally, I think UL-Monroe comes really close to beating Baylor, but Baylor pulls away in the third quarter.

I like Florida over Tennessee, but not by the 17-point line. I think Florida wins a tighter game than expected – 24-14.

Seth Puglio

Hopefully you can stay awake on Saturday and make it through this week of lackluster match ups. There just aren’t too many toss ups this week, the only game I went back and forth on was the Michigan St.-Notre Dame game. I stayed with Notre Dame at home. Notre Dame has been consistently average and Michigan State has been somewhat of a roller coaster of a team on their way to being 3-0. I see a possible upset by UL Monroe but I just don’t have the confidence to pick them to pull it off.

On that note, how did this Arkansas vs. Rutgers game come about? National Geographic might wanna send someone to film those fan interactions.

Richard Johnson

Boy this weeks college football slate is a steaming pile of hot garbage, only pick I even hesitated on was Michigan St-Notre Dame. If ND isn’t able to get a decent pass rush — which I doubt will be a problem with Louis Nix — the Spartans could be able to exploit that Irish secondary.

David Shepard

On paper there are not a lot close match ups this week, but there are a few intriguing games.

Auburn and LSU has garnered some attention, but I still think this game is all LSU. Week to week it will be interesting to see if Louisville and Clemson can win out.

Florida needs to come out and do well in the red zone this week. If their first trip does not turn out well it could be a close game throughout. However, if the Gators go down and score then I think the Gators will light it up with 38 points or so. Vandy needs to do well at UMass or it might break into more of a normal Vanderbilt season than last year was.
