Florida offers a Georgia defensive end

Will Muschamp and his assistant coaches are wasting no time in getting offers out to some of the top 2015 prospects in the country despite still a week to go in the Class of 2014.

On Tuesday the Gators sent out an offer to 2015 defensive end/BUCK Austin Bryant (6-5, 244, Thomasville, GA Thomas County Central) who received the news from his high school coach.

“Florida offered me on Tuesday,” Bryant said. “Coach [Brian] White and coach [D.J] Durkin offered me but it was Durkin that I talked too on Tuesday. Coach Durkin was by the school last week and he liked me then and he told my coach to call him on Tuesday and he offered me.”

Bryant who is considered one of the top players in Georgia for 2015 and has double digits offers says that the offer from Florida is an exciting one.

“It means a lot because Florida is a great school,” Bryant said. “I know they had a bad year last year but I know they will rebound because they have great coaching at Florida. Florida can give you a great education and you can play some great football.”

When Bryant called defensive coordinator D.J Durkin on Tuesday he received a quick message from the Gators linebacker coach.

“Coach Durkin was telling me that he wants me at Florida and he wants to be able to coach me,” Bryant said. “He was also telling me that I fit in perfectly into their scheme and that they have a good program at Florida that is going to rebound and I would be a step in the right direction in helping them get better.”

Florida is looking for a BUCK linebacker in the Class of 2015 and that’s exactly what Bryant considers himself and likes.

“It’s a 4-3/3-4 defense a lot and we play that a lot in high school,” Bryant said. “The ends get to rush a lot and the outside linebacker, like myself, get to blow up the run on the outside and get to cover the flats in the passing game.”

Bryant will get to see the Florida defense scheme more and get to talk to the Gators coaches when he visits next month.

“I’m going to visit Florida on February 22nd,” Bryant said. “I want to see the football side at Florida and meet the academic advisors. I also want to meet with coach (Will) Muschamp and sit down with coach Durkin again.”
