Florida in Godchaux’s top 5

The Gators are looking to add to their already talented defensive line by adding several top defensive linemen this year.

On Tuesday the Gators offered Plaquemine (La.) High defensive end Davon Godchaux, who has quite the offer list already.

“Coach Brad Lawing, the defensive line coach, offered me,” Godchaux said. “He told me that he wants me to become a Gator and he is going to recruit the heck out of me starting now. He said that they want to sign five defensive linemen and he wants me to be one of them and he wants me to come down for a camp this summer.”

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Godchaux is still learning about the program but he does know a couples things about the Gators.

“They are a heck of a program I know that,” Godchaux said. “They had a good year last year with a new quarterback and they always have a good defensive line with pass rushers. I watched them play when they beat LSU last year.”

Brad Lawing has coached some top defensive linemen during his coaching days and that is something that stands out to Godchaux.

“I know he coached Clowney and helped him a lot,” Godchaux said. “He has coached a lot of defensive lineman and helped them get to the NFL. I also know that coach Bryant Young is a good coach with a lot of experience coaching and as a player.”

Right now Godchaux says he is in the process of lining visits up but he already has a top five with no leader, yet.

“My top 5 are Florida, LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M and USC but I don’t have a leader,” Godchaux said. “I plan to visit Ole Miss on the 5th and Alabama the 11-13th. I’ll also visit LSU sometimes too and I plan to visit Florida for a camp this summer and then take an official visit.”
