The Florida Gators recruiting visitors list for the second official visit weekend of January has several big time prospects.
Florida is scheduled to play host to six official visitors this weekend and one big unofficial visitor that will also be on campus.
Three of the six official visitors are committed to Florida, but the Gators are trying to shore those prospects up, while they also try to gain ground on the other three prospects.
While this list could certainly grow this weekend here’s whom we have confirmed as being on the Florida Gators recruiting list for this weekend.
Commits expected in town
The Florida Gators will play host to three commits this weekend when defensive end Antonneous Clayton, linebacker Vosean Joseph and defensive tackle Shavar Manuel all return to campus.
Clayton is very solid in his pledge to Florida but Auburn and Florida State are both trying to get visits on the last weekend of the recruiting cycle. Those hopes look to be gone as Clayton says he will visit only Florida.
The Gators do have some work to do with Manuel, who is committed to Florida but still maintains that he will visit Florida State next weekend. Manuel, who flirted with Florida State early in the process, will probably be asked to cancel that visit next weekend.
Joseph is another prospect that Alabama is fighting for and the linebacker had a great visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend, but the Gators get the last chance on the linebacker commit. Florida Gators linebacker coach Randy Shannon has done a great job on Joseph and Florida has a chance to solidify his commitment this weekend.
American Heritage duo
The American Heritage duo of tight end Nick Eubanks and defensive end Brian Burns will arrive in Gainesville on Friday for the second of three official visits this month.
Florida is the mix for Burns but Florida State and Georgia are also in the mix for his signature. The Gators are trying to sign another big pass rusher in this class and this weekend Florida has the chance, as Burns will bring his whole family with him to Gainesville.
Eubanks likes both Florida and Alabama. He visited Alabama last weekend so the Gators have a chance to jump out in front now. Eubanks is the Gators’ top target at tight end and someone that Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain has focused on since the summer.
Linebacker visiting
Linebacker Dee Walker (6-3, 210, Moultrie, GA Colquitt County) has been on the Florida Gators recruiting board for sometime now but the Gators have yet to offer the linebacker. This weekend could decide whether Walker gets the Florida offer or not as the coaching staff will likely evaluate him more this weekend.
Unofficial visitor
Cornerback commit Aaron Robinson has been committed to Florida since the summer, when he committed after receiving the offer at a Gators camp. Robinson has been looking around a little bit but the Gators are hoping to wrap up his recruitment this weekend. Robinson has to take the standardized test, which is why this is an unofficial visit.
One more possible visitor
Florida Gators center commit Brett Heggie has also said that he may visit Florida this weekend for an unofficial visit to help the Gators recruit the uncommitted prospects. Heggie is also close with defensive end commit Antonneous Clayton so the two would hang out more this weekend.
