Florida Gators recruiting: TCU TE commit to visit

Since the season ended on Saturday, the Florida Gators recruiting board has grown steadily as the coaching staff is now making up for lost time and out on the road recruiting.

The newest name to the Florida Gators recruiting board is TCU tight end commit Artyvious Lynn (6-6, 250, New Berlin, NY Milford Academy), who received a visit from Randy Shannon on Monday and he also received some news from Shannon.

“Coach Shannon came by my house on Monday and that’s when he offered me,” Lynn said. “Coach Shannon was telling me about himself and I was telling him about myself so we could get to know each other. He was telling me about the education at Florida.”

Shannon explained to Lynn that the Gators used three tight ends a lot this year and that they’re in need of a bigger tight end for the class of 2016.

“He was telling me about the offense at Florida and how they use tight ends there,” he said. “He was telling me that I have the ability to compete as a freshman and that he was offering me a scholarship to come take someone’s spot next year. He said that if I work hard that I could play early because I have the size to be a good blocker and I catch the ball well. He said that my receiver days are over pretty much.”

Lynn, who still has four years to play ball, will early enroll in school this January so that means he only has this week to take visits and he plans to use that time to visit the Gators.

“I’m taking an official visit to Florida this weekend,” Lynn said. “I want to see the environment at Florida and I hope that the people are good people there and are positive people. I don’t care too much about the distractions and the other things outside of football.”

Not only is Lynn excited about the visit to Florida this weekend, but he’s also very happy to be on the Florida Gators recruiting board.

“I never thought that I would get an offer from Florida but I’m glad to get it,” he said. “Coming out of high school, I didn’t have any big offers so it’s a big one to get from Florida and they’re a great school.”

The Florida Gators have some work to do on Lynn though, as he committed to TCU last week, and the Gators don’t have much time to make up ground here.

“I’m a solid commit to TCU but still looking at Florida,” Lynn said. “I hope to make my final decision in like a week after the visit or so. Just whenever the time feels right for me.”

INSIDERS TAKE: The Gators really want a big true inline tight end in this class and that’s exactly what Lynn provides for the Florida Gators recruiting class. Lynn is an early enrollee so the Gators will know his answer soon.
