Florida Gators Recruiting: Mailbag September 18th

The Gators had a big win last weekend against Kentucky and with that comes a lot of Florida Gators recruiting questions from Gator Country members.

In this week’s recruiting mailbag we will get everyone caught up on the Florida Gators Recruiting efforts.

15gator05: Did the Kentucky game go as well with the recruits as you expected or were you thinking it could have been a bigger weekend for us?

AS: I thought you see would a commit possibly but besides that it went well. I think the key for Florida is to continue getting these guys on campus. It speaks a lot that Florida has gotten top kids on the field for three straight weeks against teams below average usually.

CTG8TR: Expanding on the above question can you generally talk about the affect Kentucky’s game had on recruits in attendance? Did the atmosphere help? Did the obnoxious fans calling for WM’s job hurt? I’d think the same status applies that recruits will wait and see how many games we win.

AS: The atmosphere was great and kids noticed it and kids are still watching the season but they don’t pay as much attention to fans calling for his job as you would think.  Recruits just want to see Florida do well on offense and show improvement.

Gatorntuscaloosa: Did it seem that any of the recruits, (McCloud) , were less than pleased with what they saw ?

AS: I think the guy that was confused the most was Daniel Imatorbhebhe, who said that he wanted to see more vertical passing like he was told but besides that I think everyone else saw what the offense can do when it’s going well.

AG111: We need to be cleaning up at safety and corner…why aren’t we?

AS: It’s not a huge need because Florida has signed big classes the last two years at the position. Florida has a lot of young guys at both positions so they don’t need big numbers at the positions this year.

Macbgator: Who are we recruiting at the safety position?

AS: Tim Irvin and JUCO safety Justin Evans are the top two guys on the board right now. The Florida Gators would like to sign at least one safety this year.

Macbgator: Who do we finish with at the linebacker position?

AS: I think you see Florida add Tevon Coney and Jeffrey Holland. Another guy to watch is Derrick Graham as an outside linebacker. Right now I feel good saying Holland will be in the class and think Florida has a great shot at Coney.

Macbgator: Are we expecting juco player Jeremiah Ledbetter to commit to the good guys?

AS: He committed to Arkansas on Wednesday night.

Swampie: Have you contacted Martez Ivey? Any of the 5-star guys lately? I know you have lots of questions about the Kentucky game, if we get clobbered by Alabama this weekend what impact do you think it would that have on our Recruiting, a follow up would be how about a win?

AS: Yes I have, I stay in contact with most of those guys weekly. Getting destroyed this weekend would hurt for sure but a win could spark a huge momentum for the Florida Gators. A win would help a ton.

Gator_nica: Will there be any recruits of our interest at the Bama game?

AS: Adonis Thomas is supposed to be in town but besides that there aren’t many guys that Florida has a great shot at.

BigOlGator: Hi AS: Who do you think are the coaches top two targets at each of the following positions and can you give us your guess as to the % chance that they wind up as Gators in the end?
RB
CB
S

AS: RB- Ray-Ray McCloud and Dexter Williams and I think Florida has an above average of flipping them.

CB- Jeremy McDuffie- 75% and DaVante Davis-60%

S- Tim Irvin- 50% and JUCO Justin Evans- they haven’t offered him yet.

Gatordon: Are the recruits generally easy for you to communicate with or do they try to avoid speaking with you about their recruitment?

AS: They are easy to communicate with for the most part. Sometimes they don’t want to communicate about certain situations but most of the time they are easy to talk too.

Gatorgiz: What is CeCe waiting for before he commits?

AS: He’s just taking his time and enjoying the process for the most part. I really don’t think he has a reason for waiting except for enjoying the process.

MrB-Gator: AS….who do you think we end up with on the OL.
Any Juco’s?

AS: I think Florida keeps the three they have and add Martez Ivey and Jalen Merrick. I think Florida could get a guy like Isaiah Prince but it will be tough. Right now Florida is watching some JUCO guys but I think they will take one JUCO prospect this year.

LAGatorDoc: When will my friend Mo’ meet my other friend ‘Mentum for this recruiting class. Jeez Louise, it seems like these recruits are taking their dandy old time…

AS: This weekend could help things big time but if not this weekend then I think the LSU weekend will be huge for recruiting.
