Florida Gators: Recruiting Mailbag October 2nd

Last week the Florida Gators had a bye week and the coaching staff was on the road recruiting across the country and our members had plenty of questions about how things went in this week’s mailbag.

Jyork: Still feeling confident on Ivey, Jefferson, and Cowart?

AS: Yes I am. Martez Ivey is definitely someone to keep an eye on with his best friend at Auburn but at the end of the day I think Ivey wants to be a Gator as long as things don’t straight South in Gainesville.

Supagator: We need playmakers on offense who are these potential recruits?

AS: Georgia WR commit Van Jefferson, WR Antonio Callaway, WR Ryan Davis, Athlete Javarius Davis and RB Ray-Ray McCloud to name a few.

MrB-Gator: AS…..any Juco OL or DL in this class?

AS: I believe the Florida Gators would like one on each side of the ball but the coaching staff is still looking at the JUCO ranks.

Ol2ange: Do you think that UF will take all 3 TE commits if Daniel Imatorbhebhe decided to commit to UF? Or do you think one would decommit?

AS: I think they will take three in this class if Imatorbhebhe wanted in. Like any other position you have to see how the other guys would react but I think all three are likely to be in the class.

Ol2ange: Are we looking to take any CBs in this class, and if so, who are our top targets?

AS: Yes they would like 2-3 in the class. Jeremy McDuffie is the most likely guy right now followed by DaVante Davis out of Booker T and Carlton Davis. Darius Slayton is also still on the board there and the Gators have a few other guys they are evaluating. Justin Martin is the JUCO corner that Florida likes a lot as well.

Genesis: Any particular prospects that you feel are vastly under or overrated

AS: I think Ryan Davis and Antonio Callaway are two receivers highly under rated and I think even a guy like Javarius Davis is under rated.

Gatornation6868: Andrew, any new names on the 2015 board that may be Gators?

AS: Not yet but as the season goes on the Gators will start to evaluate more guys and new names will pop up.

Gatorntuscaloosa: How ‘late’ into the season do you think Offensive recruits will be willing to wait to get a glimpse of the offensive success that would motivate them to become gators?

AS: The end of the year possibly unless you see the Gators offense go on a tear over the next few games which could very well happen because they aren’t going up against great defenses.

15gator05: Why aren’t you UFs recruiting coordinator? Lol

AS: Lol, that wouldn’t be a bad job to have at all but I think Drew Hughes is doing a great job in that position now. He’s young and is able to interact with these guys and he uses social media really well.

Dfalco2: AS whats the feeling in CeCe and Cowarts camp these days? they still feeling good about us? How many WR’s do we take in this class? Would love to hear your big board for WR’s and who you think will commit. As always amazing job Go Gators Beat them Dirty vols!!

AS: Same thing with those guys right as they are just playing the game and seeing how the coaching staff shakes out. I think Florida would love to add two more guys in the class at the receiver position. I think Ryan Davis and Antonio Callaway are the two likely additions right now but Van Jefferson is a guy to watch out for.

Animagator: What is the latest list of recruits that will be at houndogville to see us upset the Vols that remain in contention to be Gators.

AS: Jerome Baker is really the only prospect that the Florida Gators have interest in that is suppose to be there. The noon kickoff hurt the attendance as far recruits attending.

Pan: Do think Marcus Lewis / CB will come back due to the Michigan problems

AS: I don’t because he doesn’t like the depth chart at Florida that is full of guys there.
