Florida Gators recruiting mailbag: November 10th edition

Gator Country’s popular Florida Gators recruiting mailbag is back to its weekly spot on Thursday’s as we answer your recruiting questions.

The Gators recruiting class is off to a great start in 2017 and look to be setting their selves up for another top class.

This week members had a lot of questions on the status of the Class of 2017 and we answer your questions here.

Remember to get your questions in on Tuesday for the Florida Gators recruiting mailbag each week.

MrB-Gator: What is your guess on which offensive linemen we sign on NSD?

AS: Navaughn Donaldon, Kadeem Telfort and Tony Gray are the three I would say are Gators on signing day. That’s just right now and it will change before signing day because the staff is working that position hard.

Slickkkk15: Who is the better receiver on the field? James Robinson or Henry Ruggs? What are our chances of getting both? If we do get both, that doesn’t run Daquon Green off, does it?
AS: First, Green isn’t getting scared off by anyone and I expect him to be in the class no matter who else signs at the position. Robinson is taller than Ruggs so he’s a different player. Ruggs is faster and more athletic as far as making people miss so it’s tough to compare. If I had to choose I would say Ruggs because he can do so many different things but Robinson is still a really good player. Yes, I think they can get both players in the class.
Slickkk16: Also, do you see anyone else in the class currently, decommitting or being dropped?

AS: Right now, I don’t but as more prospects come into the class you could see a prospect leave maybe. The 15 guys in the class right now seem solid though. Kadeem Telfort is really the only that is entertaining another school heavily and that school is Miami but I think he stays in the class at the end of the day.

Dhainer24: You mentioned in your Spivey Senses that there is a possibility of a 2nd quarterback and that it may be a dual threat guy. My first response is…finally!!!! My question is, is there any chance that this dual threat is Noski Perry? If not, then WHY NOT??????? Seems there are plenty of people who think he will be a star quarterback at the next level. Would hate to lose out on the next (possible) Lamar Jackson.

AS: I don’t see Florida going after Perry, they had him in camp several times and never offered him so I don’t see that changing. I hear mix reviews on Perry from talking to people around his area but he’s a really good athlete.

47gator: Any chance a recruit or two pop this weekend?

AS: Right now I lean towards no but anytime you get them on campus it’s possible especially if there’s a good atmosphere for the game. There are some big 2018 prospects visiting Florida this weekend so maybe one of them pops.

UFsports24_7: Do you really think we get either Navaughn Donaldson or Alex Leatherwood? Not a hope, are you willing to bet come NSD, one of those 2 signs with the good guys?

AS: Yes, I think Florida will get one of those two guys come January when they enroll in school. I never base my opinion on hope so when I said that in the Spivey Senses report it was something that I felt good on saying. Florida will get official visits from both players.

Juggernautz: How many tight ends do you think we’ll take?

AS: I think Florida only adds another tight end to the class if Tre McKitty wants in and flips from Oregon. If it isn’t McKitty then I think Florida signs only Zech Byrd and Kemore Gamble. McKitty plans to taken an official visit to Florida in December and he ‘s an early enrollee.

Juggernautz: Can you give a quick synopsis of Jake Allen’s strengths as a quarterback?

AS: Allen is a smart kid who knows how to read a defense and has the character traits to be a leader. The one thing he struggles with is accuracy and that has to do with his foot work right now.

Juggernautz: Are you & Nick going to have a contest on who’s signing with us in February?

AS: We may do something like that after the season is over and signing day gets closer to time. Could be something fun we do on the podcast.

Ufgatordad: Apart from Leatherwood, do any current offensive linemen we are after have the ability to start from day 1? Also, will we get the same starting offensive line back for next year, and if so, coupled with getting some big time offensive line recruits in this class, how good could our line potentially be next year?

AS: Miami commit Navaughn Donaldson can play from day one but besides that I don’t think you would rely on any of the high school guys to play day one. Now they may get a JUCO guy and then could.

David Sharpe is telling everyone around him that he’s going pro so I don’t think you get everyone back on the offensive line. Everyone besides him should be back though.

The offensive line should be better next year as Martez Ivey is a year older, Tyler Jordan is a year older and Jawaan Taylor has more experience and is able to be in the weight. Cam Dillard is a smart player and is going to be the glue to the line again next year.
