Florida Gators Recruiting: Kylan Johnson commits to Gators

The Florida Gators have picked up commitment number 14 on Monday when safety Kylan Johnson (6-3, 202, Dallas, TX Skyline) flipped his commitment from Kansas State to Florida after taking an official visit to Florida this past weekend.

“I committed to Florida this afternoon,” Johnson said. “I talked to coach Randy Shannon over the phone and told him that I wanted to be a Gator.”

Johnson just committed to Kansas State on January 29th but when Florida offered him last week he quickly jumped on the opportunity to visit Florida and the Gators lured him away from Kansas State this weekend.

Florida doesn’t’ have a big need for safeties in this class but the plan was to always take one and with Shannon recruiting Johnson at Arkansas the parties were familiar with each other.

Johnson also played some quarterback in high school and could be a weapon Florida uses in the future or he could grow into a linebacker as he’s already 202-pounds before ever hitting a college weight room.

During his senior year Johnson was 166-for-244 passing with 2,456 yards through the air and threw 36 touchdowns, while also adding 377 yards rushing and another 10 touchdowns.

Those number alone show how athletic Johnson is for a guy his siz,e but judge for yourself in the video below.

Johnson is the first defensive back to commit to Florida for the class of 2015 and the Gators could add number two on Monday evening as Gainesville, Georgia cornerback Chris Williamson is set to decide between Florida, Michigan, Georgia and North Carolina.
