Florida Gators receiver recruiting board post spring

Between spring practice and junior days, the Florida Gators hosted well over 100 prospects and those efforts have a lot of recruits thinking about the Orange and Blue.

Over the next week Gator Country is going to break down each position and take a look at who the Gators have the best chance of landing at each position.

To start of the series we talked about the offensive line board and now we move to the much needed receiver position which is loaded this year.

The Gators are looking to sign anywhere from  4-5 receivers in the class of 2016 and have two prospects committed already.

Receiver commits

Isaiah Johnson (6-3, 190, West Palm Beach, FL Dwyer)

Commitment status: Johnson is on his third commitment already so it’s tough to say that he’s solid to Florida but so far he’s saying the right things. Johnson is someone that you must keep an eye on who he’s visiting and that is especially true this summer.

Rick Wells (6-0, 187, Jacksonville, FL Raines)

Commitment status: Wells grew up a Gators fan and committed as soon as he got an offer from Florida and his commitment status hasn’t changed since. I consider Wells a very solid commitment to Florida.

Receiver targets with offers

Sam Bruce (5-8, 185, Fort Lauderdale, FL St. Thomas Aquinas

Teams in contention: Bruce is a Miami commit at this time but the Gators are the team with the best chance at flipping at this time.

What are Florida’s chances: Jordan Scarlett is Bruce’s best friend and that helps the Gators chances a ton, but Bruce is also very close to Miami receiver coach Kevin Beard. At the end of the day I think Florida has a great shot of flipping him.

Tyrie Cleveland (6-3, 180, Houston, TX

Teams in contention: Texas A&M, TCU, Houston and Florida are the schools that are considered to be the top teams for Cleveland.

What are Florida’s chances: Cleveland is originally from Jacksonville but lives with his aunt in Houston, which is why he was originally committed to Texas A&M. Florida is trying to get him on campus this summer as the Gators are trying to land the big time playmaker. Right now Houston and A&M have bigger shots then Florida do.

Nate Craig-Myers (6-2, 198, Tampa, FL Catholic)

Teams in contention: Craig-Myers is committed to Auburn but likes Florida State a lot and talks to Florida some.

What Florida’s chances: Florida seemed to be in the best shot to flip Craig-Myers at the beginning of the spring but now Florida State has gained all of the momentum and are the team chasing Auburn. Florida needs to get Craig-Myers on campus this summer if they want to get back in the race.

Josh Hammond (6-0, 180, Hallandale, FL High)

Teams in contention: Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida are considered three teams standing out to Hammond at this time.

What are Florida’s chances: Urban Meyer coached Hammond’s older brother Frankie and because of that Florida is chasing Ohio State for Hammond. Hammond is looking to make a commitment this summer so both schools are trying to get him back on campus again.

Josh Imatorbhebhe (6-2, 202, Suwannee, GA North Gwinnett)

Teams in contention: Stanford, Florida, USC, Georgia and South Carolina are all schools that Imatorbhebhe has visited lately but he hasn’t released his top schools at this time.

What are Florida’s chances: Florida has as good of a chance as any due to Imatorbhebhe’s older brother already being at Florida but the west coast schools are also in very good shape. I consider Stanford, USC and Florida as three schools with the best chance for Imatorbhebhe and at this time I could see his recruitment going either way.

Tre Nixon (6-1, 168, Viera, FL High)

Teams in contention: Florida, Notre Dame, Alabama Florida State and Alabama are schools that Nixon has visited recently.

What are Florida’s chances: Florida had a very good visit with Nixon over the spring but the speedster doesn’t tip his hand on who’s leading for him at this time. The Gators need to get him back on campus again to have a legit shot at landing him. At this time Alabama and Notre Dame should be considered the teams to beat.

Elijah Stove (6-0, 177, Niceville, FL High)

Teams in contention: Florida and Auburn are considered the top two schools for Stove but he says he has no leaders and isn’t close to a decision.

What are Florida’s chances: Florida is quickly picking up  momentum for Stove, as heading into the spring Auburn was the team to beat by a good margin. The Gators are showing early playing time to the big time playmaker and Florida is trying to get him back on campus more this summer.

Freddie Swain (6-1, 174, Citra, FL North Marion)

Teams in contention: South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami, Florida, North Carolina are all teams that Swain has a lot of interest in.

What are Florida’s chances: Florida hasn’t really pushed for Swain hard at this time and that has led to them slipping down Swain’s recruiting board. Miami and South Carolina are both ahead of Florida at this time but that could change if the Gators start to push harder.

Binjimen Victor (6-4, 173, Coconut Creek, FL High)

Teams in contention: Florida, Ohio State, Miami, LSU and Louisville

What are Florida’s chances: Florida is the team to beat for Victor at this time but the big play receiver plans to take a lot of visits this summer and the Gators must get him back on campus again this summer to keep the momentum going in the right direction. Victor is the Gators top target at receiver at this time.

  1. How does UF have any chance with NCM if he has no interest in visiting the campus? It seems like UF’s coaches contact him often and he takes their calls out of courtesy. All the Fla WR’s on this list have been to campus and met the new staff with exception of him, seems like hanging on to false hope just because he’s the # 1 rated WR and his name drives clicks.

    • In my story I mentioned that Florida didn’t have a chance for NCM unless he visits but that he does talk Florida. I didn’t even mention his name in the title so I’m not sure how this story was made for clicks.
