Florida Gators impress the younger Imatorbhebhe

2016 receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe (6-2, 202, Suwanee, GA North Gwinnett) visited the Florida Gators this weekend but unlike most 2016 prospects he stayed the whole weekend in Gainesville.

The reason behind that was that Imatorbhebhe was in town with his older brother 2015 tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe who was on an official visit to Florida and the younger brother enjoyed his visit to see the Florida Gators defeat the Kentucky Wildcats.

“It was great, it was a really good experience,” Imatorbhebhe said. “I think their win against Kentucky kind of showed how they don’t give up and how they are recreating Florida’s football program.”

Heading into this weekend Imatorbhebhe didn’t have an offer from the Gators but that quickly changed when the family arrived and met with Will Muschamp.

“Coach Muschamp offered me the first day we were down there on Friday,” Imatorbhebhe said. “We were in his office for my brother’s [Daniel] official and he was like I just want to thank you guys for coming down and we would like to extend you, Josh, a scholarship offer.”

After Muschamp offered, the 2016 receiver went to talk to receivers coach Chris Leak about how he would fit into the Florida Gators offense.

“Coach Leak said he watched my film a lot and he thinks I’m a good player,” Imatorbhebhe said. “Coach Leak said that he wants me as an outside receiver and that he wants me to have the opportunity to make big time plays. He said that I could play Demarcus Robinson’s role for them and after watching him make 15 catches in the game I know that there is an opportunity to make explosive plays in the offense.”

During the game the 2016 Georgia native watched the offense closely and he walked feeling good about what he saw from Kurt Roper’s offense.

“I liked the offense because I liked how they got the ball out of their hands fast and there is an opportunity to make big plays,” Imatorbhebhe said. “It’s a pretty dynamic offense and I think it’s going to be successful.”

With Imatorbhebhe spending the whole weekend on a visit he had plenty of chances to interact with the coaching staff and he liked the way they treated him and his family.

“I liked the coaches not just because of football but because they act like people and treat you like a person not just a football player,” Imatorbhebhe said. “They talked about the recruiting stuff but they also talked about other things too. I had a great impression of them.”

Since Imatorbhebhe is just a 2016 receiver he has plenty of time before he has to make a decision but he admitted the Gators are high up there but the ultimate factor could be where his brother chooses.

“I don’t have any narrowed list yes but I would say Florida is in my top 5 for sure,”Imatorbhebhe said. “Daniel’s decision will play some role because it’s always great to play with your sibling so it’s definitely an angle we working towards.”

Not only did the Florida Gators impress Imatorbhebhe but they also impressed his parents who like the distance from home factor.

“They liked it,” Imatorbhebhe said. “They were impressed by the coaches and it’s close to home so they would be able to come see our games if we choose Florida. Overall just a good experience.”

INSIDER TAKE: I think Florida has a great shot at flipping Imatorbhebhe’s older brother and that will help big time with Josh. In this case Florida has the family helping them out a ton, as both parents prefer Florida.
